Hi all,

Every May Day Bank Holiday for the past 20 years or so 20,000 bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts have visited Hastings in East Sussex to hang about and eat chips.

Finally the council are putting on a worthy welcome and we would like to invite all GS riders.

There will be a motorcycle trade show and exhibition on the sea front car park and in the pedestrainised town centre.

With top names like Laguna, Hein Gericke, Carole Nash and the new Ascari adventure centre in Dorking showing off their latest kit.

There will also be a unique big screen presentation from Brittany Ferries and bike1066FILMFEST that features some great entertainment including Charley Boorman taking on the Ron Haslam Superbike school and clips from the upcoming bike1066FILMFEST in support of HELP FOR HEROES.

If anyone requires more information plese do not hesitate to get in touch.

Bike1066 can also arrange dedicated parking in Hastings Town Centre for any BMW riders who want to get together as an organised group and book together. (10-20 bikes is ideal).

Hope we can look forward to your support.

Cheers

What about non GS riders? Why after all this time are the council now interested? I've always felt we weren't really wanted in previous years, so why the change of heart?

Of course non GS riders are welcome.

It's a good question about the change of heart. It has taken nearly three years of putting a case forward from the Chamber of Commerce, some within the Council and especially lots of support from Sussex Police. There are still some willing us to fail but overall the support from the people of Hastings has been fantastic. bike1066 are trying a different approach to motorcycle events, our unoffical moto is "bikers deserve better than muddy fields" - that's why the second event in Hastings will be bike1066FILMFEST in support of Help For Heroes.

A Great Day of Great Biking Movies.

LOLGEOFF has a good and valid point. :thumb2

I have attend this event annually since its inception and only missed it a few times.
It has grown and become a very popular event and is good for the collective camaraderie of all bikers / motorcyclists regardless of what they ride.

We are all, in one way or another, affected by EU rulings and laws. One for example, the law regarding motorcycle leg guards was quashed in its infancy with the help of peacefully pro active organizations such as M.A.G. amongst others who help defend the rights and views of every motorcyclist whatever they ride.
I never disrespect anybody because of what they ride, its a personal choice and besides the rider maybe unable to afford his or her dream bike. The fact that they're on 2 wheels is enough for me.
As motorcyclists we all need to remain united and be seen doing so, that's why events like the Hastings May Day Bike event is good for all of us whether a HOG rider, GSer etc. The fact that the local authority, police etc are involved should been seen as a positive step in the right direction providing it doesn't become too restrictive as a result of their influence.

Remember: United we stand or divide and conqueror - The future of motorcycling, its up to us.

Perhaps I've got a tad carried away but I'm passionate about motorcycling and motorcycles and its future. I'll get off my soap box now.

Safe biking,

Richard.

The dickheads that ride to this down the A21 make it more dangerous than Ho Chi Min/Saigon at rush hour....I know, I have ridden in both at peak times.
Yer can keep yer May Day run, unfortunately dangerous dickheads make it so.

I can't disagree there - but there are plenty of other ways into Hastings -

Follow the advice that Led Zeppelin never gave:

"There are two roads you can go by .....but in the long run... there is still time to avoid the A21"
