Hats?

Got to agree about the looks, if I were in extreme conditions - yes I know Manchester in summer time is pretty extreme - then I would go for more "encapsulation" of the skull i.e. something that will pull snugly round my ears like some of the "caps" you kind people have brought to my attention.
I don`t really need winter warfare head gear more of a smallish brimmed hat that will prevent rain running down my collar and keep my glasses relatively dry. I normally have a waterproof car coat but hate using the concealed hood that is in the collar. I am too old to be a hoodie!
Thanks all for the replies so far, does anyone know the best (cheapest) source for Tilley or Drizabone or indeed any hat I may still yet consider?

....................funny name for a hat!

The "Boy George" hat is standard GS issue if you buy a 1200 right? :D

Thanks for all your help !

..........in the end (and after much trekking around) I ended up buying a Tilley LT5. It has a medium brim and is very light, comfortable and waterproof.
A special mention should go to George Holloway of Ashton-under-lyne who not only has a splendid selection of Tilley hats and other Tilley garments, but made the buying experience an absolute pleasure. I was getting very disheartened after looking on the internet under local suppliers and putting in "Manchester" you are directed to two suppliers on Deansgate; one who has no stock and the other with very limired stock with sales staff who disappear the moment you need assistance.
My intention was to try a hat on and then go and purchase from the internet for the best price but Mr. Holloway was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the product, including being properly measured that I certainly did not mind paying the full retail price and will definitely be visiting his emporium again. :thumb

I apologise for not posting a picture but will definitely post one later this week. I have never posted a picture before so I will have to "get the hang of it". I should have something very interesting to post by then albeit not hat related - watch this space!
