I fancied one around 8 or 10 months ago but instead got the 1150GSA tank for my 1100GS. I'm not too crazy about the look of them either.

Now I have the opportunity to get one for a fair price and I'm thinking about it. At half full it will lower the centre of gravity of my bike compared to when I had the standard tank on and full to the brim. At 3/4 full the bike should be easier to handle than my bike with the GSA tank full (again the lower CoG) but now with the option of another 11 litres which would be handy for any Iron Butt rides I might finally get to do.

The only thing annoying me, and stupidly so, is the thought of the cross over pipe being in front of the alternator cover.

So has anyone ever gotten one of this tanks and really disliked it?

Is this the tank that has 10 litres of fuel you can't use in the lower lobes :D

If you decide to take the plunge and buy the 41l tank PM me. I would be interested in taking the GSA tank off your hands if it is in good nick with no dents.

Not fussed about the colour or any scratches as I will probably re-paint it anyway.

And if you decide not to buy the TT tank - then PM me because I quite fancy one:)

If you're doing Iron Butt stuff, surely 320 miles full to empty on the std. adv. tank is enough - that's 600 miles with just one break.

I thought these big capacity tanks were for riding in areas of the world where you weren't sure where your next tankful was going to come from :nenau

I did similar conversion on my 1100. First upgraded to 33lt Adventure tank and then to 41 lt Touratech tank. You need to buy the extra fuel pipe extension from Touratech to get the last few litres out. I still managed to run out in middle of Sahara when only petrol station for hundreds of miles was out of fuel.

The big tank is great for big mileages in dodgy countries and allows you to stop just when you want. I left northern Mauritania with full tank and only had to stop once in 720 miles covered in 10 hours.:)
