We never know where they are and their Mother worries

My company is currently developing the very thing. To be used on a mobile, no gps needed, and you can view where they are on your mobile. Anytime.

Its taking a lot of work and investment, but it's happening.

So you could fit it to an old handset, stick a "pay as you go" Sim in it, hide it on the bike somewhere, being charged by one of those cheap car fag lighter chargers.

So if someone nicked your bike you'd be able to find out where it was.

:)

I was in the Leicester Maplins yesterday, they are selling a web based tracker for £150. Didn't see too much of the detail but it caught my eye. Can't imagine that it's going to be as good as yours though.

Yes. as long as the phone has reception.

Its a little way off yet, the whole of the uk has to be remapped for it work. But thats actually a lot easier than it sounds.

Dont worry Pete, I'm not competeing for your business, was just divulging info.
We're too busy in Malaysia to start here yet.

Good luck.

Good for you Stumpi - I m just trying to see if we can do a product at a knock down price for Gs 'erss , and to get some idea what's wanted from this group.Your system works on tri- angulation , and is better as it does nt use GPS for positioning - but as you say its a big re mapping job , and will take some time and major investment.BUT tomorrow I ll be on the SLOPES - so I wont be lurking around this site for a week....
See Ya Guys - and thnx for all the feedback.........

would it be owner fitted - and would it be transferable for use in any vehicle that i own .

Hopefully NOT a maze of wires , have located a combined GPS and GSM ( Mobile Antenna) , so that cuts down a little. This will come about out of another product , which gives video over the GPRS Network , for Security and Management applications.
Will keep you informed with progress , which at this moment is behind schedule. Cheers and thnx for the support.

Pete,

How are you moving on this... any progress.

I recently looked at Thatcham Cat5 but really unable to find anyone who would do it on a bike. The biggest issue is the stability of the call centre. That is not included in the Thatcham Cat5 evaluation. They give it just for the device and not for the service.

Of the two that I indicated they supported motorcycles, one (RAC Trackstar ) never answered my calls and the (T-Trak) other has not yet set up a call centre agreement even though the Thatcham Cert say Group 4 plus you are not allowed to move it from one vehicle to the next....

In other words a mess.

Wanted it for my CBR600RR which has "bu*ger all" space for anything..

Verilocation do a unit for £299 incl 1st year and £49 subsequent years buty this is not Thatcham CAT5
