dealers dont like bikes with miles

Well my dealer gave me above book on px despite the fact that the mileage was 50% more than Glasses.

Paul

Well said Gasman,

We all ride bikes because we can, if we all had the same tastes it would be a very boring world wouldn't it!!

Stop being childern and go out and have a ride and enjoy yourselves.

Gary.

I love the GS, my wife say's its bloody ugly but hey she still married me :D

She's just about forgiven me for selling my car and buying the GS.

If you can't live and let live on this forum then me thinks you need help, either that or your desperate to prove something none of us give a %^&$ about.

Oh dear thats my nobel prize up in smoke

:shoot:

Hey Orangeeboom and Roobeykay (pardon the spelling) Guys I am very happy that you have had the individuality to choose a bike that floats your boat, pushes the right buttons etc etc. I am a recent convert to the GS, (04 GSA yada yada yada) I enjoy it because its different. Just like you enjoy your choice for the same reasons. I agree that some bmw owners can seem a little stuffy and over protective of their decision but in my experience that could apply to any owner of any make. Thats what makes the world an interesting place - diversity. I for one don't judge anyone on what they ride - as far as i'm concerned if you are on a bike then more power to you - you one less road user who is likely to take me out on the road. I welcome your opinions and wish you both safe and happy motorcycling, I hope ypu might extend this old fart the same courtesy. There I feel all warm and hippy now (No spelling error!)

Steve

Amen to that Steve !

Just read this months bike mag - no wonder people in power are trying to get us banned - god they write some %^&$.

They have the stupidity to print their 150+ achievements on uk roads and then whine about non biker perception towards us

I'm emigrating - anyone on this forum buggered off to better shores

Hi Maverick,

Is it true they fit flame throwers to cars in SA to stop would be thieves?

Is so can they be fitted to a GS - it'd look great charging down the M1 in the morning rush !

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

When I tried selling a 6 year old FJ1200 with 36k on the clocks to a dealer, he was horrified that someone would have ruined such a bike by actually covering an average mileage on it.

Needless to say, I went elsewhere.

Rode 69k miles in the past two years on 2 1150rt's and 1 650gs. Not one problem. Do my own service after the initial visit to the dealer. Eagerly awaiting my 1200gs, hopefully in the next 2 weeks. And yes the rt forum is a bit restrained. :beerjug:

if it means not being associated with tw++ts like you bob then im very happy at being on a ktm this summer.you do like to quote your figures from your ''bike''.do you only buy a bike based off a magazine? sad sad sad....mind you it reinforces the old fart image too!!
Orangeboom, I reckon your bedside manner needs a bit of TLC, I bet all your patients are eating out of your hand! :hapybnce:

There's an awful lot of your lifetime you can waste not putting on the mileage;)

I don't want "He always had a good resale value" on my gravestone.

Probably should have read all the thread before posting. Orange sorry your experience of this site did not meet your expectations. I would just add that its a forum, nothing else. It is centered on one bike and made up of people, all sorts of people who ride in different ways and in different conditions.

I tried the 950S and was very close to buying one - thought it was lovely to be honest. I guess i made the "boring" choice and went down the GS route, due to needing a bike that was more on thgan off road, even if I do ride off road as well. To be honest I am not sure that my next bike will be a beemer, but at the end of the day its just a fcuking bike. Bob is not a tosser because he owns a GS, just as you arent a tosser for owning a KTM. They are different and each one suits different people in different ways.

I dont mind personally that you blokes have a slanging match on the forum - thats your problem. What I dont want is to be called names by someone who dosen´t know me just cos I ride a GS. I get sick of that shit from fcuking car drivers, cos I ride a bike. I would have expected a bit less bullshit from a biker. Anyway I hope you enjoy the adventure, Im sure you will and maybe you could bring yourself to ride off road with some of the GSers (there are some very good off road riders) and have a laugh with them instead of at them.

cheers

bob

I always put a lot of milage on bikes becasue i ride everywhere, everyday on it, my last bikes a TDM and a Tiger have all been sold with exceses of 50k showing on the clock and not had a problem part x or selling, mainly becasue i look after them and they don't look well used, saying that, normally I buy an oldish bike (about 5-6 years old) with very low mileage so that when I do sell it it's about average for the age, this is the first time I have bought a bike that had high (about 40k) mileage to start with, but was convinced a BMW had only just been run in at that mileage.
To be honest I wasn't aiming to buy a GS, I was after a Caponord or the New KTM, which i like very much, but the down side was the Cap was still a little too expensive and not much knowledge on it's reliability and the KTM that I really liked was too Tall for me.
Saying that I have grown to like the GS and am starting to have fun on it, I use forums like this to get the best out of which ever bike I have, good or bad.
One thing I have learnt from riding bikes for years is that bikers are very pationate about their bike... what ever it is.
Enjoy your KTM, I would love to hear feed back on it.
