Have I bought the right oil?

I want to change the oil in my gearbox and final drive.I've bought some Shell Spirax 80w-90 oil. It says 'axle oil' on the bottle and high quality/heavy duty.The specs looks ok at SAE 80w90. API GL-5 , but is this likely to be ok. Bits of says just put it in,but I want to check with you ,more knowledgable members of the forum. Ta.

Sounds right to me. The only other word I would look for is 'hypoid'.

Hypoid gear oil is also part of the spec and I gather is more robust than your standard gear oil although it may just be that the API GL5 and SAE 80w 90 covers it.

Thats the important bit, the oils fine.
