I have a 1996 (R-reg) 1100GS, but I don't know whether I have a catalytic converter...how can I tell?

If I do have one it is probably bust because of I have been using Optimax (which along with the Brisk plugs has transformed sub-40mph behaviour).

Try the flap test

easy way to find out if you have a cat............................

see if your number plate has hinges on........................

thats how they get into the bike !!!!!!............................:Catrun

Or you could try looking at your exhaust down pipes...........

you will see the sensor for the cat off the collector box...........

or it will be blanked off if you have no cat..........................

Take a look at the right hand side of the front silencer (I assume you still have the standard B*W exhaust fitted) You will see a thing that looks a bit like a spark plug sticking out from the top somewhere behind the skid pan and the back of the engine . Nromally on the right. If you haven't got one you won't necessarily see a blanking bolt - mine doesn't have a Cat and I have no blanking plug - just a solid silencer. Failing that pop down your dealer and ask them.
Get a Remus Grand Prix - lovely bit of kit on the 1100 :D
