With the NERC Bill closing in on us, groups of people are busy in the shaddows compiling User Evidence to present to the various County Councils regarding vehicular usage of what were known as RUPP's (Roads Used as Public Paths).
This thread is regarding a ford to the East of Machynlleth in Powys, that crosses the River Dovey at SH804 038.
Have ever crossed it? If so, when? Using what type vehicle? How many vehicles? Etc.
I'm not too sure but this ford may of been used in the Tour Of Wales motorcycle enduro. :nenau
Any information will be gratefully recieved. :thumb

That's it....

Yes Greg, that's the route in question. It's known as 'Old Granny Ford'.
I wish I could answer your question fully. I have no doubt somebody on here can. Councils are reclassifying theRUPP's to either Byways Open to All Traffic (BOAT's), Restricted Byways (RB's) or Bridlepaths.
There is a clause to do with 5 years of majority usage, say more motorised vehicles use it than horse-riders then a claim/reclassification to BOAT can be attempted.
To be truthful, I have kept up fully with the developments of Nerc Bill and its contents, the main reason is 99.9% of the 'green routes' in Wales I use are of UCR's(Unclassified County Roads) classification.
So, please send me details if you or your friends ahve used this crossing.
Oh and if your inclined to rush out to do it, be careful, rain fall soon swells it, and the Southbank has a 3or4 foot step into the water. Even my Landy will struggle with that. :thumb
Cheers.
