Have you ever tried to trace the history of your Airhead?

And as per my responses at the start of this thread I did fill out the appropriate form and send it off together with my £5 to DVLA Swansea.

Today, one month after submitting my enquiry, I received a pile of paperwork showing all the owners since the bike was imported.

The bike is a 1989 Honda and it's interesting to see that it was imported in 2004 and I can see when the colour was changed from red to blue but disappointingly it

doesn't show where the bike was imported from. I'm fairly certain it's from the States but where in the States currently remains a mystery.

But for a fiver it's all quite interesting and I suppose I could fire off a letter to the first UK owner and maybe, assuming he still lives at the same address, find out a bit more.

Hi all

I have a nice story about a little bit of history on my r80 rt

Well firstly i bought a 1150 gsa in may 2012 it needed a bit of work and was given Jays number
on here Doc Farkoff. Well it needed a new gear box plus a few other things so this was going to take a little time to sort parts second hand. In the mean time i had sold my transalp to a friend
and so needed a wee run about so up came the r80 any way a deal was done and i was the owner of an r80 this was the first time i even had seen an r80

Same thing the r 80 needing a bit of work of she went to Jays and behold wheeling her of the back of the van guess who rebuild her years before and yes it was Jays first bmw.

Talk about small world and I would like to add its like a new r80 now after a few trips to
island magee,,,,,,, I still think jay still has a wee special spot for her

cheers davy
