Have you seen the price of Airhead GS parts?

+1
rip off merchant !!

You are entitled to your opinion . You are also entitled to express your opinion.
prejudice is a negative attitude that occurs when people prejudge disliked others. If you have had a bad experience with "Sherlocks ",
Maybe you should be talking to them first .
ANYWAY ,, Its your money , Its your Choice .

Should I remove this comment....tad unfair as he probably has many satisfied customers..:nenau We'd be lost without the three or four airhead suppliers etc.

Kenny , I cant believe you would ask this question ? Really .
You are stepping on soooo many freedoms , its a tad offensive. ! .

That's an old chestnut and a cop out - just bad mannered in my opinion. Feel free to have a rant in the bollicks section with some back-up but I'd kindly ask not in the airhead section.:thumb2

Sherlock have supplied many a tosser with parts and will continue to do so...we rely on these suppliers.

Old Chestnut ? Cop Out ? Bad Mannered ? Really ? .

Democracy , the Very principle of what our society is built on.
Everone has a Voice , and is entitled to use it .

If there is one gripe i would have with the Explorer dude is that there is no
substance , Just the "Rip off" Comment ,, It would have been better if this was qualified.

But , At the Heel of the Hunt this is an ""informative"" site , so why not have a warts
and all commentry .

Whatever about the prices of the parts from Sherlocks and Motor works - when I have been dissatisfied with my purchases my complaints were dealt with in a timely and reasonable manner by both parties. In fact, during the rare occurrences of this having happened I was treated with respect and generously compensated for the inconveniences incurred.
Similarly, Gummikuh.de are a pleasure to deal with ... Some items are cheap, some are expensive ... It is all about choice - and communication.

I recently made the big mistake of adding up the total cost of building my Moorespeed airhead Dakar Replica. I needed to replace 99% of the original parts as they were worn out,and didn't want to use second hand bits. I now have a new "old" bike, but eye watering just doesn't cover it.

I usually end up with the best £3 grand bike that £5 grand can buy.

I only ever made the mistake of keeping records and totaling up the cost once, with a BSA B44 VS.
Now I just stuff all the receipts in a shoe box, just in case I ever need them, but I will never add them up.'

I have no objection to Sherlocks prices, business is basically buying as cheap as you can and selling for as much as you can, and if he can extract huge prices for GS parts from folk who are probably bodging something up with an eye to reselling it a substantial profit then good luck to him - it might enable him to be a bit easier on genuine riders who need parts to keep their hard ridden bikes on the road!

Damn these rip offs where you can see exactly what you are getting, how much you are going to pay while you are connected to information source that enables you to find all manner of alternatives.

Damn them to heck.

Disclaimer: I use Sherlocks as their P&P charges are fair. I'm not chuffed paying £15 P&P for something that would go via Royal Mail for less than £3. Especially when, out of necessity, I've bought said item and paid £15 for delivery, because of my location, and it arrives with <£3.00 worth of stamps on it.

Yep this is my issue too, exactly the same for me - living on the Isle of Wight seems to be an invitation to use your wildest imaginantion and make up the postage price, when in actual fact it costs exactly the same to send here from the mainland as it does anywhere else in the mainland.

I ordered a rubber bung for my R100GS from BMW Plymouth many years ago. The storeman found it difficult to understand what I wanted so I showed him on a bike in the show room. Three months later I received a text telling me the part was in. The part was not what I ordered in fact, I don't even know what it was except it was a big chunk of metal and not a little rubber bung. I made a phone call to James and the part arrived the next morning. £1.50. Yeh, rip off. Happy new year James if you are reading this. Good man. :thumb

Ebay has gone daft, sellers must think they have rare jewels for sale.
I notice some sellers can leave an item for sale on there permanently, the same overpriced stuff is there for years.
How do they do that? When I have put things up the add expires after a time.

There's an option to list until cancelled, probably costs something to do. I only list stuff if the listing is free.

I don't hear anyone complaining when they've sold stuff for a high price, only when they have to buy it.

Probably 'cos most of us are dreadful hoarders that have filled garages, sheds, attics and spare rooms with old motorbike bits rather than ever actually selling them! :D

Long may it continue, or at least until I've sold the crashbars and sidestand I no longer need.:thumb2

Living in semi-rural Canada, I would love to have a Sherlock or motorworks close by. My option are either bmw dealer, a USA based seller or motorworks then getting hit with customs charges. I did however manage to get a 1986 r80 complete engine, gearbox, complete loom, all electrical bits ignition and key for 300 quid. No one else around was interested ... now it's just trying to find the rarer bits to complete the bike...which will likely cost me more than the more significant parts!

Seeing as we're all entitled to a warts and all opinion, i have one on the explorer dude.

He phoned me once asking for advice.
Long story short, i couldn't give the advice/answer he required. He got the hump and posted in the 1100/1150 tech section about how he'd never recommend anyone to use me.
:D:D.

You fix 1100/1150's as well !!!!

Isn't that just the case! I like the idea driving around on an old looking bike that some people will just laugh at... while the ones that do know what it is also laugh at for the very reason that you stated! By the way I called in to the Harley dealership to visit your mate but he wasn't in so I'll try again next week sometime perhaps.
