Working in a 50 year old R90/6 with a pop and fart misfire.
Remembered I had a spark strength tester, I’d forgotten all about it tucked away in one of the drawers on my tool chest..
Anyway, sparks jumped across the widest gap, so into the next possibility ..

Never seen one of those before.

That’s where you get the apprentice to,” just hold this for me”😆
Yes i learned the hard way many years ago on an Yamaha RD50 when I put an electric test screwdriver up inside the spark plug cap (because of course that's rated to 240v and this is only a 12v battery). It was an interesting sensation when my pal operated the kick start. I can report it was most definitely producing at that point in the system.

Another "early learning experience" - in the 80s was riding a bevel-head 900SS Ducati in the rain and due to the front mudguard directing water right onto the front spark plug it was misfiring like a sod (even with a "waterproof" plug cap). So while doing about 40 muggins decided to reach down with wet leather gloves to twiddle the sparkplug cap with the obvious shocking results. How I didn't fall off amazes me even now.

I got given a Honda CD175 that had stood for a long time and the kickstart was fecked and didn’t turn the engine over.
I tried push starting it but it wouldn’t start.
To check if it was sparking I put the plug lead on a spare plug I had, and got my neighbour to hold the plug and run alongside while I tried to push start it ..
When I let the clutch out and he swore and fell over I knew it was sparking ..
