I'm helping a friend organise a party in the New year. What I'd like to do is project some HD vids onto a big wall at the party venue. Some of the fantastic timelapse vids that have been posted in the Beakchat version will be perfect.

How can I do that? Is it possible. I know you can get HD projectors fairly reasonably from what I've seen via a few Google searches, But can I download those vids to my ipad (rather than just watching them on the net) so that I can then play them back through a projector? I suppose I want to make a 'playlist' of vids (not with the music) and then just project that series of vids through a projector... How do I do it... cheaply?

any help much appreciated!

I'm not sure there is a cheap way to do it, but if you are considering a projector then cheap may be a relative term. Firstly to get a feed out of your IPad you'll need an apple/ hdmi lead. Costs about £30. I suspect the projector will have an hdmi input, so the 2 devices should ' talk ' to each other. My main concern would be about the resolution of the videos that you would store on and run from the iPad. The iPad supports full HD video, but to input the video to the unit, you, would need to use some sort of software to prepare the footage. Handbrake is one of many such programmes,MIT as far as I'm aware they all downsize the video, and hence when viewed on a large screen, may look very grainy.
Personally I'd do it all from a laptop and not risk compromising the viewing experience.

turn the HDMI into a DVI most reasonable spec projectors will have them

Native resolution of around 1280x720 or higher...:thumb2
