While i was in France on my Basic i was lay down next to my bike while we were camped, taking in some sun, drinking some wine, eating some cheese. I happended to cock my head over and noticed just below the exhaust header's that my heads have blanking plugs in them. My question is, were all GS80 heads make as a twin spark head?.. Thats what they look like as the cooling fins are shapped around the blanked out hole. Looks an odd place for a second spark plug??.. Sorry for daft question, just curious really.

The later/last of the R100GS were built with a pure air system ( connects air filter to cylinder head with a pipe to burn off excess gases/carbons etc ). The Basic was the last manufactered of them so probably just blanked off at the factory...or you have an American/German spec (later altered) model. Quite normal.:thumb2

Thanks for that chaps. I had a peek at the airbox maybe a clue dont know? But on the left side it has a rubber plug on the airbox behind the carb breather tube, and on the right side in front of the carb breather tube on the airbox.
It's not important i know, i was/am curious though.
