Head protection

Just about to take delivery of a 1250r and was wondering what you guys use for head protection (the bike’s, not mine).

Nothing over the top, just something to stop any damage should I be stupid enough to drop it from stationary or hand balling it about.

Also looking for any recommendations for hand guards,

For engine protection I would go for the MachineArt X-Heads. They look good & blend in, they're easy to fit, and should provide plenty of protection if the Bike ever goes sideways.

I have MachineArt x heads on my 1250 RS - they also fit the GS, R and RT. Nice thing is yiu do drop your bike you can buy just the one side to replace the damaged one

The OEM ones are good, same as the GS obviously

I find the Machine Arts Head Guards Great.
However. They will mark the part they are protecting.

You also need to remove regularly and clean as dirt gets in between and also damages the Rocker covers.

The BMW head covers offer less protection. However, they do not damage what it is trying to protect.

I chose SW-Motech engine bars and mounted auxiliary lights on them (mainly for being seen). However the belly -pan needs to be removed to fit these - and this is unnecessary with the BMW bars.

I’m in the same position and about to take delivery of a 2019 r 1250 r and was wondering about screens and handguards.

Also any other farkles people recommend.
