Had the bearings done under warranty by Clarks a couple of weeks ago, been riding quite happily for 3-4 months with notched straight ahead bearing but decided if i left it too long they may disintigrate.
Since having the bearings done the bike weaves at high speed quite badly, anyone else had this ? Nothing else has been changed.

Just had mine done and all is fine!

I found them loose at about 3500miles so tightened them, at the 6k service they were noted as being 'slightly notched' so agreement was made to warrenty them at the 12k service.

are yours a little tight or loose? since being done?? Perhaps a double check on the adjustment would be good.

From memory. (As per the Haynes manual, for reference)
undo the handle bars (I bungeed mine to the screen to keep em out the way) Loosen the top yoke, slack off the head race nut, tighten to 25Nm, turn steering lock to lock 3 times to settle bearing in (bike on center stand front wheel on the ground), back head race nut 60deg, retorque to 10Nm, retighten all the top yoke fixings to req. torque, refit bars.

Loose i think, seem to remember someone saying they need re-torque after 500 miles :nenau

I will check myself to be on the safe side :D its a shame really it rode perfect with the notched bearings in, just a slight tendency to want to go straight ahead, wonder if you can buy slightly notched bearings :augie

I too think they're probably too tight if you're getting a weave. Too loose and you tend to get a 'clonk' under braking or over bumps in the road.

So cranking up the rear preload to max ain't going to fix it ? Works on st1300 pans :D
Good advice guys, back to dealer it is :thumb2
