Any recommendations for a good powerfull headtorch, prefer re chargeable and around the £30 - £40 mark.
Thanks

Alternatively try Olight, I have a couple of Perun 2 minis which are fab, but slightly over your budget: https://www.olightstore.uk/perun-2-mini-head-torch
I have purchased one of these last year too. Excellent recommendation from @tuftywhite.

I do like UBS-A (USB-A to USB-C adaptor can be used too) charging lead which magnetically attached to the torch for recharging. Meaning one can use a power bank, a laptop, a hub in the tank bag or indeed a USB socket on the bike to recharge it. The magnetic end of the cable has a charge indicator. Glowing green when fully charged and red during g charging stages. Loads of features including red led, SOS, Turbo mode, low and medium light output.
The torch can also be removed from the head band harness and via the magnetic base, can be mounted on any metallic surface, for example under the bonnet if one is broken down, motorcycle frame etc. It also does come with pocket clip.

A bit more money than OP is willing to spend, but well worth it.

I use a uni lite 780. More money than you want to pay, but a cracking head torch.
Rechargeable and has 6 or 7 light levels. I was working on a wind farm recently which had no lighting at all. Pitch black by 17.00hrs.
I was the only one who could see the guy lines 80 metres away.

A fellow tosser a few months ago recommended Sofirn as a brand. https://www.sofirnlight.com/collections/headlamps?spm=..index.header_1.1

I bought their SC21 pro mini torch which is exceptional in every way (build quality, performance, resilience, design). I have not tried their head torches but have no reason to think the quality would be any different.

Whoever originally recommended Sofirn, by the way, thank you!

Resurrection shuffle! A second liker of SOFIRN, but I got their HS42 model, because the batteries are longer lasting and I already had 4 rechargable versions for other stuff. You can use a 'C' cable to charge directly in the unit, or like me, have rechargeables and replace and charge in a proper charger. VERY bright, white and red options and it has a magnetic base, so very useful for looking for stuff at night without ruining your night vision, fishing and not spooking the fish, or as an emergency back light if you are broken down, it will stick to something steel on the bike. It is also a head torch. Just superb and I only paid £25 for it.

I’ve just started to use a beanie hat with a led light in it ,more comfortable.

Nitecore every time . I’ve used it at work daily for the last 8 years . Totally bombproof hands down. In use at the side of the road , day in day out . Wet cold sun . Uses swappable 18650. Not cheeep chinese tat. Above military spec . 11/10

Ive had one for a few years, use it camping and even walking the dog on dark winters nights.
Just so convenient, you can remove it from the hat and charge on the bike if travelling, no lead required as the actual light bit plugs straight in!

Link to hat on Amazon: for £9 you cant go wrong 👍

I've actually not long been down this rabbit hole before leaving on my european tour back at the end of March, and the Nitecore NU25 and NU33 kept coming up as the best bang for buck. I left it until too lastminute.com to order however as wanted to go via their official site and it was touch and go if it'd arrive in time for the trip, so picked up one of these planning to use it for the first week or so and have a nitecore sent to a friend's place in Zurich

Under a tenner, and for the money it was bloody brilliant. Beam was bright so mostly used the flood feature which was perfect for setting up the tent in the dark, and most importantly USB C charging meaning I could top it off from the bike using the cable in my tankbag. Didn't end up ordering the nitecore in the end and just ran with this for 6 weeks and it didn't miss a beat.

Nitecore are great value imho. But I keep losing mine that I take to work, probably end up inside a boiler somewhere. I recently bouight this one, not from Amazon but Aliexpress and it was about half the price.
Make sure you order the 400 lumen one.
A great addition is the red light feature to stop insects being attracted, plus not invasive to other campers when you casually 'look around' the campsite and look like a perv

They are great in the tent but less so outside the tent.

I hate it when, in the dark, someone is walking towards you and blinding you. Is it that difficult to carry a torch and point it to the ground? You wouldn't shine a torch direct into someones eyes.

You can point them downwards, its just that people dont.

a bit like car drivers with there stupidly bright LED lights blinding everyone on the continent!
I always thought bog eyed headlights was an MOT fail, but all new cars shine in all directions.

<sigh> had my whinge.... feel better now 😊
