Header information. Remus v Pipecraft

Hi All,

As there are no second hand ones available i want to assess the differant headers for my 2008 R1200GS.

Basic info required that isnt on previous threads is, are Remus worth the extra £110 over pipecraft, i no all the engine bar info what fit the remus, however, if i go for the Pipecraft, which engine guards fit ? SW motech or H&B.

just wanna get the relavant info

dont know if this helps but i had a pipecraft fitted to my 07gsa, i liked the fit and it positioned the sensors tighter to the engine in a 12o'clock position
the downside is there were a few deep tooling marks on the bends coming out of the head and galvanised clamps. which i changed for s/steel ones

I have Remus on my 12, the fit is great straight on no messing, can't speak for aftermarket crash bars but the BM one were no issue, the Lambda sensor hole is slightly further forward on the Remus headers and whilst this casues no troubles when all plugged in, I found I had to mess around to get them plugged back in and clipped back to their mounts as the wiring is tight to clip them but fine once clipeed...IYSWIM ?
quality of the pipes is nice and fitting was easy...

I no Thunder had the Pipecraft headers but didnt keep them long before getting something else.

From what i can make out its remus headers and H&B bars or Pipecraft and SW Motech bars but im unsure if pipecraft work with H&B.

I just want them to fit right, ive had lots of Remus cans and have always been good quality.

We shall see.

i got the pipercraft headers on thunders advice.
for half the price of new remus headers i thought they were worth a try,
have to say i have no complaints about them.
ok the alloy clamp is corroded looking after a few months but for 50 quid less than second hand remus headers, they do what i want fine.
they also fit perfect with my hepco and becker (same as sw motech) engine bars,
its a case of pays your money down and takes your chances.
thunder thought 1 of his lambda sensors was to close to the engine so pipercraft sent him a modified pipe.

Remus all the way - pipercraft are alright but Remus is much better quality, materials and craftmanship. IMHO deffo worth the extra dosh - plus Remus have had the advantage of all the testing prior to Akro being the favoured aftermarket supplier.

I'm with Johnny and the Remus vote. Quality kit and when you're spending that much dosh, you may as well go for broke.

Thanks for that Tony. I called them back, and chap said "Sorry, thought you were asking about a header for BMW car." I had said they were for a R1200GS

I have Remus headers fitted with H&B crash bars with no clearance problems. With these headers you can fit either a Remus or Akropovic end can. These headers are very good quality with everything including the clamp in stainless steel. The headers colour up nicely when heated. If you fit them yourself make sure they are clean before you start the engine as oil left on them can cause staining. They can be found at http://www.performanceparts-ltd.com/ who are very helpful. In a previous life I used to be a mechanic so I fitted them myself. One tip you may find helpful, I did not disconnect the lamba sensors. I used a spanner to undo them whilst the original pipes were attached then gently undone them by hand, the wiring coils up on itself. When replacing them on the new downpipes turn turn the lamba sensors anti-clockwise (as if you were unscrewing them) the wires will coil up but when you screw them into the new headers they will uncoil. Hope this is useful and to those who I'm teaching to suck eggs....sorry.
