Header/Y-Piece - thoughts?

fitted the full remus system with titanium end can to the hp2 yesterday.

cant stay off the bloody thing as it was now its impossible, amazing sound and pops and burbles as you back off the throttle:D

what with the noise and titanium boot sliders, roundabouts are full on playtime:D :D

get a 7 by 5 french no. plate(metal) and theres no problems with heat:D

I have the BMW Akra end can on my GSA 12.

I got this one mainly so the warranty would not be affected.

I guess fitting Remus headers/Y piece will invalidate this possibly.

I also read on another thread that the GS and GSA headers are different part numbers and the Remus headers don't fit the GSA

Cab anyone confirm this ?

Ta.

Interestingly enough, I have just been looking at the Akrapovic web site and their headers still keep the connecting pipe.

Ooops! and I thought they did'nt use one.

Thing is the Akra headers are not available seperately, you get them with the full race twin shotgun can system only which is why a lot of Akra end can retailers pair them up with a set of Remus for those wishing to dump the cat.

7" x 5" sized number plate should cure that little problem..;)

I have tried heat defectors before, and because aluminium is a good conductor of heat it will still melt the number plate.

Been there, done that :o

All that's been said about the balance pipe on the OEM system is correct (impoves low speed scavenging and therefore improves torque and engine pick up at low revs). Guzzis use them and even some Jap parallel twins.

On my old Guzzi Lemon I had a Dr John 2into1 which did away with the balance pipe and didn't seem to suffer from it's absence (however, like the MBW BOS system it had fatter headers to improve gas flow). Normally fatter headers will improve flow at high revs at the expense of low speed performance. However I suspect the removal of the CAT more than compensates for this, hence the improvement across the rev range of a system such as the BOS.

I wonder if MBW keep a balance pipe to improve scavenging for emissions reasons :nenau

Alan, I've got a full BOS system on mine so you can see what you think of the sound/performance tomorrow :)

Good man thanks. :thumb

Oh BTW, if its raining tomorrow, then somebodies bike is going to have to stop outside while it is being worked on......

Having just spent the week BTBR'ing mine, it aint going outside to get dirty again..;)

So all you guys who have fitted cans or full systems to your bikes have any of you put them on a dyno to see before and after results? Surely you must need to alter fueling or something if changeing to a free flow system without the cat?

Akrapovic system

"Thunder " My AKRAPOVIC full system has the front cross over pipe to equalize the cylinders but my REMUS headers are much larger in diameter then the Akra ones.
With the Remus headers and the standard can the bike is much faster and has more torque and power right through out the Rev range.
The Akrapovic system is def, noisy but much fun.
