Are there any recommended suggestions for headlight bulb upgrades? Planning ahead for winter, Im wondering if there are any brighter bulbs that could be fitted to my 2009 GSA?

Just go buy a CAN bus compatible HID setup. You can get upgrade bulbs that are a little brighter but the trade off is cost and life span. HID is brighter and lasts a long time.

Great. So this one perhaps?...

I always upgrade my standard bulbs. In the last year I have 3 of the Philips/Osram brighter bulbs fail. One on my car the other two on the GSA. It is worth carrying a spare. Although with both lights having the same bulb you always have the option to rob the high beam.

eurocarparts were about £10 cheaper than anyone else for a pack of 2 when I got mine about 6 months ago

Great help, thank you.

So on my 2009 GSA i can partially get my hand on the rear bulb cover to unscrew it, but ideally does the screen and display need removing?

It can be done without removing the headlight but be careful as the clip holding the bulb in is a bit fragile. It's fiddly, just take it easy and don't force anything.

You should be alright Bear, even with my large spades I can get in there and change the bulbs without removing the dash

You can also take the two bolts out the side of the headlight and remove it without taking out the instrument cluster.

No need, but be carefully with the job. The spring clip is held in a sort of plastic trunnion which should keep it captive while it is open. Some part of this trunnion / hingey bit broke on mine and getting the clip refitted into place to hold the new bulb took a lot of patience. No effect when in place, just a bugger when open.

I recently fitted an HID set. it's "possible" with the headlamp in place but 5 (ok, 10) minutes to whip off the screen and the two lamp mounting screws was well worth the effort.

It is ridiculously easy to remove the instruments so I generally do just for ease of access.

It's just a few pull pins if I remember right. They are really easy to get off hence the thread with everyone saying they have had them nicked.
