Hi,

I need to replace my headlight bulb on my '08 1200GS.

I know its an H7 12V 55W halogen, however, there appears to many variants i.e. 90% brighter, blue etc etc.

What is fitted as standard?

M&P do a "standard" bulb for £6.95 as opposed to Halfords "Extreme Brilliance" at £22.99.

Thanks

Lidls were selling H7s +50% brighter at £3.99 for a pack of two:nenau

I found the extra bright ones don't last as long. Maybe the extra hot filaments not coping withe the vibes. Best solution is a HID, but you probably know that already.

I had a Philips X-treme that was toast after six months and 5,000 miles. At least it lasted through the winter. IMO the brighter bulbs are a waste of money on a vibey bike.

get a standard one - IMO the brighter ones aren't noticeably brighter. Lidl are cheap if they have them. If you really want brighter you need to go HID.

Just be very careful when you change it, it's all too easy to pop the lens assembly off the level ball/socket. If the new bulb doesn't fit in the aperture easily don't force it, lots of tails of woe on here from people who've had problems with the headlight adjuster:(

you would better off paying £37.50! for HID

PM me with your address and I will send you a H7 bulb F.O.C

It's a trade off : higher brilliance vs. life expectancy. Read in a test in a German car magazine. HID's are the way to go.
