I have had my 06plate gs1200adv since May and have covered approx 6000miles on her since then.

The other day I noticed that approx 20 seconds after switching off the ignition my headlight flashed once.

So I did this a couple of times and every time the headlight flashed once.

I asked my local bmw dealer and they had no idea why it did this, can anybody help shed some light on this please.

I have looked in the manual but could not find any ref to it.

Do you have anything plugged into the accessory sockets or GPS plug? This is about the time when the electrical system shuts these down. Sure I read in other threads that Garmins and the like can cause this.

Marki_gsa - My autocom/bluetooth is a spure off the accesory socket under the seat & my garmin is a direct feed from the battery.

How come it makes the light flash?

My two mates gsa's dont do this......

You sure there isn't an aftermarket immobiliser or alarm fitted.
The flash could indicate an auto-arm.

Have just noticed today that when the headlight flashes, the rear light also flashes.

Anybody ant idea?

Cheers Cookie and Mark,

Mine flashes at exactly one minute after ignition is switched off, this happens wether the 2620 is connected or not.
I am using a touratech locakable mount with the 2620 wired direct to the battery.

As mentioned the headlight and tail lights both flash at exactly one minute after the ignition is switched off.

Both friends with the exact same set up, execpt there sat navs are 2610's, their lights dont flash at all after the ignition is switched off.

Took mine in for a service at Cotswold Motorrad not so long ago. I have a Zumo 550 wired direct to the battery. This had been happening periodically to mine and as luck would have it, it did it just as I handed the keys to one of the mechanics there. When I asked him he said it was the bikes computer "performing a check" and was nothing to worry about.:nenau
