Bought a Rugged roads headlight cover for my LC - as it looked like it would blend in and be a good fit!
First one turned up with wrong bolts no instructions and paint bubbling on brackets, sent back and they sent another.

The std bolts on bike,to mount bracket on bike have a little collar on them, doesn't fit through hole, supplied bolts are way to long to fit here!
the side bolt for headlight , std bolt is too short with bracket in place as it has a built in spacer, the supplied bolts - only 2, are too thin!

Anyone else bought one of these, it will look well on bike and should give complete cover for lens, but i'm getting a tad peeved!!

Ive messaged them with pics of bolts and mounts etc, hoping they can get it sorted!

I bought a Rugged Roads version for my F800GS, which fitted a treat, but for a reason I cannot recall I bought a Cymarc from NN and fitted it yesterday.

Fits, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired.....

Got a BMW one and nearly fitted it :roll eyes: My dealer toke pity on me and finished the job....Big thanks to Allan Jefferies :thumb2

The BMW one seems to be a more popular choice these days just based on observations on the road. Aesthetically, it's a bit different at first but it looks 100% effective and one gets used to the look of it. I have the TTech "black mesh" type and although it looks the part, one could imagine a cheeky high-energy small stone whizzing between the mesh gaps....

Yes , that's why I got a full polycarbonate one , saved my 1150 a few times

Is it tinted? The on-line shop images give that impression.

Also, have you noticed any difference in airflow/wind noise due the the effective extension of the screen shape?

Moose....Mine's not tinted, don't know if they do one, as for air flow, I've not noticed any difference BUT I have just returned for a short jaunt in France and Germany and the temperatures were high, the wind protection on the GSA is great in poor weather but I found myself standing up a lot trying to get cool.

Oh if you do get one then let your dealer fit it, the headlight on the latest model doesn't come out, so a lot off the plastics have to come off and then you need 3 hands with fingers that'll bend in any shape....I kid you not !!

Funny you should mention that , many moons ago they did research regarding the drop down riot screens on police vehicles, they found that if you fired a crossbow bolt at a standard or protected screen it would deflect away and not penetrate.
Add a drop down diamond mesh screen and in a number of cases if ths bolt hit right ie in the centre of the diamond it would concentrate its energy and cause it to go straight through the screen.
No reason that it shouldn't be the same with a small stone if it strikes on a hole in the mesh.
Solid polycarbonate protector for me

Bit geeky but the difference between a stone impacting and a crossbow bolt is down to this. It's why tank ammunition is designed as it is.

The "long rod penetrator"

We're aware there is a slight fitting issue if you have the LED headlights. We're working on it. Thanks for the heads up.

exactly the same issue. Rugged roads were very apologetic and said they would have to take a look at them again, offering a full refund incl postage

I like the Touratech ones, both versions the metal one and the clear plastic one.

read this on their website: "This headlight protector has been developed for OFF-ROAD use and is not street legal. "
any thoughts?

Couldn't care less if it's not 'street legal' TBH... always had one, always will. Cops have got better things to do IMO than bother me about a headlight guard. That said if I do meet such a jobsworth than I'll just remove it as it pops off.

Yup, that's what they did for me , fair play!

should be an easy fix, I've offered my bike as a template to use to fix it.
