A few times over the past few months, I've had the bulb warning on start up. The first time I got off to check the headlight was working once I'd started the engine (it was) and the warning went out by the time I'd got it into second gear.

It did this today riding to work. Then this evening the warning came on while I was riding, and would not go out. As it was dark, I knew the bulb was still working, as was the full beam when I tried that.

It's obviously a sensor fault rather than a headlight fault. Any suggestions how I might resolve it?

I would suggest the bulb is on it's way out or there is damp in the connector/plug.

:)

Right, I'm off to change the bulb. Wish me luck.

(Bloody 1200s! At least on my 1150 the bulb just blew, and that was that.)

Have you also checked the pilot bulb ? On my previous GS it used to throw LAMPF errors with great regularity.

Eventually I replaced it; the glass was well stained inside, but it still worked.

After I replacing I had no more LAMPF errors

A Big Favour to Ask...

CityBum, you win today's prize - it was indeed the little pilot bulb!

There's an auto store in Dover that's open until 10:00. But my wife has just wafted down the stairs wearing a negligee over her best lingerie, and says she wants an early, but passionate, night. I can't get to the shop before it closes and satisfy her carnal desires.

So, could someone do me a big favour? Come and make love to my wife while I nip to the shop?

PS Typical German shoddiness. With a bit of effort, concentration and tenacity, they could have made that bulb holder REALLY inaccessible.

Robin, my bike is the same, happens every few weeks, but no problem with the lights. The warning like normally goes off after a few miles. I'm just leaving it until the next service. its annoying but not harmful.
