Best mod is to HID the dipped beam - dramatic improvement. Plenty of posts on this subject well worth a cuppa and a search.

HID's seem to be the way to go - I agree, currently bulbs not too good; am currently looking to upgrade and there seems to be 2 main contacts, both of whom seem to know their onions:-

50W HiD on the dipped beam. Les is your man.

Don't piss about with "extra bright" bulbs. For "extra bright" read "bulbs not designed to cope with a vibrating boxer engined bike" - you'll get through them like sweets.
