Ye gods,

I thought the dipped beam on my baby V was bad - read non exsistant, but the big G really goes one better

A wonderfull arc of light - and thats comming from my Nighbreaker bulb!!! with feck all in the middle!!!!

seriously, how can that be safe..

I can see every potential suicide animal that comes within a counrty mile of the tarmac. , but 20 feet in front of the bike,

its the entrance to a black hole ...

i was thinking of uprating to a led bulb, but would that do any better ?

any ideas on how to improve things ?

They're not the best but I use nightbreaker bulbs too and find them better than stock and fine with the spotlights on, I tend to ride with my high beam on during the day especially when filtering and more than happy with the occasional abuse from twats (in cars)...it re-assures me to know they see me :dabone

I had Nightbreaker bulbs but got tired of replacing them. Especially at what they cost!
I believe that it's a case of, the brighter they are, the shorter the life with incandescent bulbs. Can't get anything for nothing.
They're are some on the forum who feel that the led bulbs are adequate now, but can only speak for myself. Believe there may be a bit of bodging needed to fit them.
I have a set of hid bulbs from www.hid50.com, a member of this parish and they're excellent with about three times the output of the original bulbs.
Downside is that they take a few seconds to come up to full power from cold. Oh, and they're not cheap unless you buy second hand like I did. Nearest thing to daylight you'll get and no-one doesn't see you. Though they'll still pull out on you!
Some have an HID in the dip and an ordinary bulb or led in the high beam.
I've an HID in both and no problems.

LED is now equal to and actually surpassing HID now. Instant on so good for high beam and they won't scorch your reflector like some HID kits are reported to do.

I have found the same problem. I therefore have spots set up to illuminate the foreground rather than coming on with main beam as most seem to. I find main bean ok if adjusted correctly. I use Hella FF50s which are not expensive and use H7 bulbs same as the headlights.

The OEM spots are not called "auxiliary headlights" for nothing.

I've had HID-50 In dip and main for quite some time and very good they are. The light quality is excellent and even on main beam the warm up delay is nothing to fret about.
Putting halogen in main with HID in dip would be totally pointless.
I replaced the halogens and was shocked how bad they are. I nearly hit a kerb in the rain because I literally couldn't see. Joe Lucas Prince of Darkness eat your heart out.
HID converts much more energy to light rather than heat so reflectors are as new.
I took the plunge with LEDs. They put out even more light than the HID. I have 6000K that looks bright white I suspect 5000K could be better but the light output is so high it doesn't matter.
The emitters can be moved in the mounting ring. I've not yet tried but suspect that depth into the lamp will affect the beam range/ focus.
The GID was fine but LED dip beam cutoff is every bit as defined as the halogen candles. Main beam lights the whole county so could be better focussed for range but I'm splitting hairs.
For under £50 with some faffling about to close the lamp back covers I think they are well worth having.
I don't expect 30,000 hours life but a year or two would be fine.

Sent somehow.
