Why are BMW unable to equipe their bikes with decent headlights?

R100GS, R1100GS, R1100RT and now R1150GS. Common denominator? Terrible lights.

Last bike was a Pan Euro -brilliant lights.

Does anybody have any suggestions apart from increasing bulb wattage?

Then to the rolling Heaven itself I cried,
Asking, 'What lamp has destiny to guide her little children stumbling in the dark?'
And, 'A blind understanding.' Heaven replied.

David,

Yep crap lights, we all agree. Some have gone for stronger bulbs, however, I think Touratech do a headlight replacement for the 1150. I've got the double headlight conversion (for my 1100GS) from Touratech, via Bracken Motorcycles in London and they work a treat. A vast improvement over the stock lights. If memeory serves though I think that with the 1150 if you change the headlight, you also have to move/change the instument cluster. I could be wrong.

Of course the the other option is to simply add some decent secondary light, PIAA, Hella, Halfords, the list goes on. There's a huge amount of info on this subject on the BB. with advice as to which bulbs, which lights, wiring diagrams and 101 ways to mount them on your pride and joy. Just do a search.

Hope this provides food for thought

Ride safe
