So just waiting for the postman so I can put the sliders back on the bike. I've done a push pull test on the fork stantions and can feel a mm or so of movement. Done a search but can't see anything on trying to tighten them up a bit, is it just a case of loosen the knurled collar and locking nut on the top bolt and try and adjust the play out with the centre bolt ? :nenau

You need to turn the bearing collar down the thread after unloosing the top nut and collar.

part 4 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0475-EUR-08-1996-47E3-BMW-R_80_GS&diagId=31_0352

They usually seize in the ally top yolk though so you may have to take the top yolk off to free it all up first. This is a bastard of a job as you will have to take the headlight unit off and the forks out to allow the yolk to be rotated.

Cheers Rob, I'll need to nip out tmrw and buy a socket to fit that top locking nut:blast
My biggest is 27mm , its at least a 30 mm at a guess
I'll give it a shot, if the knurled adjuster won't budge it'll be a winter job.
