I have a new R1250GS, just had its first service. On my way to Donegal from Yorkshire and the heated grips have stuck on level 2, I only have the two levels, Bloody hot! Even turning the bike off for 30 mins doesn’t help. Very heavy rain at times today. Any ideas as to how I can get them to go off? Thanks in anticipation

Must be an earlier 1250 as yes we only had two settings (this can be changed though using a GS-911 though)

SO the button on the top right control isn't working at all?? (press once for 2 then again for 1 and then again for off) and should see the symbol on your dash change??

You could potentially unplug the cable from the grip (see pic) but I do not know if that will affect anything else.

As far as I'm aware, you only get more than 2 settings if you've got heated seats, in which case there's 5. My 23 GSA only had 2, I couldn't have heated seats last May/June they weren't an option from the factory. They've now got 5, done as you've stated via GS-911.

Thank you for clearing that up, like you my 2019 doesn't have heated seats so that would explain it much better.

Same as my GSA, 2019 bikes weren't offered it as an option.

I bought a heated Sargent riders seat which has variable heat control rather than preset steps.

Thanks for the feedback, I will try to spray some contact cleaner in and see if that displaces any water in the switch. Other than that I will leave it and take it to the dealers when I get back, don’t fancy taking it apart in case it affects anything else. I may try the battery disconnect when I get to Donegal, presently at a pub near Hexham staying overnight. It is a new bike but no heated seats so just the two setting, lukewarm and deep fat fryer.

It fixed itself today, I can only think the switch dried out after the North Yorkshire monsoon yesterday. I have bought some contact cleaner spray too.

Same thing happened to me ( in Donegal too ) First time it fixed itself like yourself but it happened again so I stripped it down and found the water proof connection to be letting in water ,
I smeared the seal with vaseline and rebuilt it and so far it hasn't happened again !

Thanks for that, good to know it can be fixed. I have mine booked in for when I get back next week, hopefully fixed under warranty
