Has anybody any experience of using heated pants? Gerbing are the only makers I have found. After today's rather chilly short Sunday run I think I could definitely do with some, and I wondered if anyone had used them.

Not since I stopped going out with a girl called Joannah when I was at uni..:thumb

ive got some of the gerbing ones. they are ok but really do need the adjustable controller. They get very hot at the knees but are not as good in the thigh area. if you use them with the heated jacket as well then you really do keep warm but you will want them on a different setting so will need the duel controller. It does get expensive.

Thanks for that. It's a little higher than the thigh area that I am most concerned about. The do look good baut as you say not cheap. I don't think I need a heated jacket, never seem to get cold from the waist up.

However, if you think of it in a more systemic fashion, Ken.... The reason that your legs get cold is because the blood flow to them is restricted in order to preserve your core temperature. A heated jacket would, like as not, leave you with warmer legs.

Or.....you could try chilli powder in your Y fronts....;)

Having said that, what were you wearing on your bottom half today...?

I'm pretty sure this is surface cooling in cold wet conditions (airflow over wet clothing drawing heat away). If it was mainly a manifestation of reduced bloodflow to the legs I would expect my feet to have felt cold, which was not the case. I'll try an extra layer of insulation next time; I have some HellyHansen fibre pile salopettes that I used to wear at sea, which might be just the thing...

:aidan Kept this from MCN a little while back.........Gerbing do heated jacket and trouser liners at £149 :augie , their number was 01304 827030. Apparently its Viscose material, with heating pads in legs and hips? :nenau
Hope this helps :thumb

The theory works - heated vest = warmer all over :thumb

Sandra has an EXO vest and I have a Klan both do the same job.

I have the Gerbing heated trouser liners and the heated socks that sit below them!

The heating elements on the trousers is on the forward facing part.

They can get very hot, so you will need a heat controller.

As someone else has mentioned, you really need to get the dual controller 'cos most folk (me included) are happy to run with legs cooler than torso/arms.

I only use them when riding in temperatures under 5 degrees or so, else I find I don't mind the cold.

But, today, I was out for 3 hrs doing training with a chap who didn't have heated kit, but being a butch sports bike rider insisted he'd be OK.

He got cold and I didn't!

all this farting about ,

all this farting about , if your cold get in the car,

biking is sir-post to be cold mislabel and tough , with due dropping of your beak , steamy visors chill Blane hands, that what make you different , where barking mad.
The best thing I found very cheep silk long johns work a treat :JB

beware your sperm count will drop if your gonads get hot and no more babby's for you.
whatever happened to the old silk tights we used to wear in the old days when we had winters.and no heated anything, open faced helmets, unreliable bikes, drum brakes, speedmaster tyres and two stroke oil fumes everywhere.
