Can anyone advise what the current situation is regarding heated seats on GS and GSA bikes.

Several of my pals have 2022/3 models with heated seats but I've been told that they are no longer fitted. As far as I can see looking at the Motorrad website there is no mention of heated seats in the specification for the bikes

Of course I can and will ask a dealer when next I visit, but just wondered what the score is

I think that the problem lies with the semi conductor shortage. They are now concentrating on the led headlight production and so the shortage has been passed onto seats, thus no heated seats

When enquiring about a new R1250GS the salesman told me they couldn't spec heated seats till at least 07/23. Parts shortage. I think the new ones have gone back to 2 heat settings on the grips instead of the 5 on models fitted with heated seat.

Avoid buying new until they have sorted this mess out. Why pay more for less bike?

^^you don’t pay more heated seats was a £200 option.

I dont know about paying more as they are usually extras anyway.
but i agree, i would just wait until you can have the bike you want, rather than what you can get.

I have a new one ordered. Sadly no heated seat option but maybe a retrofit when available??

I enquired of my local BMW dealer the other day - apparently retrofit is a possible but expensive option. He estimated £300 for the parts and some hunderds for labour. They have done one but had great difficulty getting the elctronics to work correctly.

I will be content with my heated trousers

Probably very expensive , BMW forgot to fit sat nav prep to my factory ordered 2018 model GSA , I had ticked the box and it was under £200 when ordered . As they forgot it cost BMW much more , try new left hand heated grip, the wonder wheel thingy, the cradle and mount , the labour charges plus the ecu had to be flashed to make it work . I think it was £800 or more to sort out .

It cost them even more to have a specially written ECU update programme to install the Computer Pro Option which they also forgot to install (that took 8 hours and 3 attempts for the ecu to accept the programme)

Personally I don’t rate them. Did 450 miles last weekend on my new GSA with heated seat and all day long I’d take a heated jacket over a seat. It just toasts your cheeks.

Heated grips, heated seat along with a heated jacket on my RT why be cold when you can be warm

Heated grips and seat on both my GSA and my Tmax plus muffs and a shytebag.

I ride daily so for me a bit of comfort is essential.

Yeah, you cant order heated seats at the moment, but bikes are now coming with led lights.
I was told that the loom is different so you cant retrofit heated seats easily.
I nearly bought a GSA Trophy that was in stock with seats but no led lights, then wait and get the led upgrade later in the year, although it was in the back of my mind that BMW might just move the goal posts and end the upgrade scheme, leaving me with a bike with halogen headlights.
Anyway i went down the used route and got everything i wanted.

i was going to sportsbike shop last weekend to buy Keis heated socks, pants, jacket and gloves.

some part of this are not in stock until OCTOBER!!! wtf?
I still want warm toasty stuff, so checking my options.

Get some Tucana handle bar muffs, you won’t need heated gloves if you have heated grips, you will be able to ride with summer gloves on, much safer than riding with heavy winter gloves on
