Hi

I didn't order a heated seat with my R1300GS but the dealer sent me one for free as someone didn't want it as they needed a lower seat.
Question is will my bike have the existing wiring to connect it up?
Has a quick look under the seat and didn't see any spare connectors

if anyone could confirm that would great

Thanks

Should have a connector, I think someone said they fit the loom for heated seat BUT if the bike wasn't specced with heated seat it won't appear in the software to be able to use it. So you would probably still have to pay BMW to activate it??.

I have the same situation, I bought the bike as an ex demo and it came with the heated seat connected but not ordered when the bike was new.
I was in the dealers the other day and asked the service guy if the seat could be configured to work along with the grips but he said it wasn’t possible to get it to work if it wasn’t ordered at the factory.

That sounds like bollocks to me.
All these options are activated by coding the software.
Have search on the German or US forums to see if anyone has done this.

Can you see where your connector comes from?

According to the tech, all bikes have the wiring but he just disconnects them if it hasn’t been ordered at the factory and tucks the female connector back under the seat beside the other wiring.

Keep us posted if you hear any more info,I can only repeat what I was told last week.
I would certainly be interested in getting the seat activated.

This sounds to me like a "I don't order rubbish i don't want" Or "Its just more rubbish to go wrong"
But suddenly, "I want it" :ROFLMAO:
This is why I order everything. And If I don't use it, Then so be it, But, its there. :thumb

As I stated earlier, mine was an ex demo at a very good price, so I didn’t factory order anything but did get a £6 grand saving

I checked this last night it appears the connector has been tucked under i presume the ECU! Think i would have to lift up the ECU to get it out!

My front seat wire comes out of a harness just behind the ecu, its a small two wire wrapped in the black cloth harness sheath. The rear seat wire comes out separately from somewhere under the ecu

Had mine done BMW did not want to do it, Very long story but they have done mine so the answer to your question is, YES BMW can do it

Thanks. why would they make it difficult? I need to find a closer dealer anyway as the bike came from Scotland.
Looking either Warwick or Northampton possibly Cotswold's. Just hope they are accommodating!

Did anyone manage to connect up a retro fit heated passenger seat? My bike was an ex demo with the very small rear seat which the other half doesn’t find too comfortable!
I’ve bought a heated comfort passenger seat off eBay, I’m not too worried about the heated option, it’s the extra padding I needed, but it would be a bonus if I could connect up the heater. I had a look under the seats but couldn’t see any spare connectors, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
