I'm looking to buy a 1250GS to tour around Europe with my wife in the next few months unless the perfect bike turns up. Her wish list is that the bike comes with heated pillion seat as she suffers with sore hips when cold. As this is restricting me on a purchase my questions are:

1. Are the standard heated seats comfortable?

2. What other options are available which are plug and play if a bike does not come with factory heated seats?

3. Do the heated seats actually make a difference?

Would your good lady be better with some heated trousers / clothing?

Might be better on her hips.

Could plug into the din socket near the seat on later bikes.

That's a very good idea. My wife already uses a heated gillet because for her back so I'm not sure why neither of us considered heated lowers. The only issue we have is that we prefer to wear jeans and a jacket throughout the driers seasons and she couldn't get any heated trousers underneath but still would like to have a bit of heat when those drier days are a little cooler. She did struggle during our trip to Belgium in May when the weather wasn't what we expected. Cheers.

That’s a very good idea. I’ve often wondered, what’s the point of that Din socket 👍
