I purchased a Varrie™ Tentipi last year and have used it extensively since both here and abroad (2 week tour of Norway in June) and it has been brilliant.

Although it is larger and heavier than other tents it gives enough space for comfort and is very easy to erect in poor weather. I can highly recommend it for the biker who is thinking of doing a lot of touring/camping and especially in bad weather

I purchased the tent from

and I can highly recommend them for service and help.

If you are one of the unfortunate one's who are having there house repossessed then, these wigwam types would be an ideal substitute.

Other than that go for something like the Bibler tents that uses a single skin 'goretex' type of material.

... my Varrie™ Tentipi is Single-Skinned, and I can only concur with the comments above. I think it's brilliant, and the 7-person one fits easily into a 35L Ortlieb bag and sits on the pillion seat very nicely :aidan

I was also a customer of Nordic Outdoor and they were very easy to deal with.

How easy are they to pitch on uneven ground? I've got an 8 man wolfcamper tipi and if the ground's not 100% flat I end up with sides that I can't get taut. Do you have an inner tent or a floor AND how heavy is it? Thanks.

I've got a Bibbler Bombshelter.

Lovely tent albeit expensive to buy. Just about light and small enough for the bike and would fit 2 OK or 1 with all gear inside comfortably.

The main thing is the Material gives a lovely fresh air inside* with no clamminess. There is none of that moist sweatyness (ooohhh matron) in the morning.

It is said to resist 6ft of snow! is certainly 100% waterproof and doesn't shift at all in high winds.

Highly recommended.

Whilst I'm on the subject, if you have not tried the Xped down camping mattress, do. Fan bloody tastic!

* no fart jokes now boys!!!

Level ground ...

... is the key with all this type of tent and the instructions did say to pitch on level ground.

Mine is a 7-person job (max sleeping capacity) but is great for two. It takes a double thermarest between the pole and the outer leaving lots of room to move around. Total weight (inc pole & groundsheet) is about 12Kg but to be sure look on the Nordic Outdoors site mentioned for full spec; I don't use an inner tent.

I would like to have a peep at yours at Princetown and see just how small it packs up if your both going to be there.

Plus 1. The tentipi is a fantastic bit of kit. We took ours round Europe last month, and had several heavy thunderstorms. Once we sorted out the chimney opening, we were completely watertight. It coped really well in the high winds, even without the guys, the first time!

I do hope so, after a severe case of tent envy over Toads new tent at the Shropshire event, i've just bought one, a safir CP7, to use as a two man:ymca two dog family tent.

First try out this coming weekend, lets hope its not too windy for my first attempt.

i to have a wolfcamper tipi ,and allthough heavy to put on a bike ,if your static camping for a 3-4 days ,the headroom ,and the fact youb can walk around is worth the weight ,as picthining it po unlevel ground, because of the single pole ,i think it will be saggy on one side,
