Anybody out there with previous experience of above tyres

What mileage could I expect on Tarmac at moderate touring speeds, fully loaded panniers.

I am using them as winter tyres so I cannot count on their longevity but I beleive they last as long as most other tyres (6000 miles). I am on my second winter.

They are noiser that the summer tyres I use (Continental Trial Attack) and the sidewalls are much harder giving a firm ride.

I will probably switch to using them all year when my summer tyres wear out as they seem to cope with wet and dry tarmac just fine.

Fitted them for Morocco in September. 5000 miles and counting. Plenty of life in them yet. I am very impressed.

9500 on the front 5500 on the rear
.....enthusiastic riding. .....the killer is fully loaded on motorways in warm climate. . . .the rubber is to soft for it. .on my third set and will do it again .

2500miles of mixed (ab)use on road and my K60 rear is 1/2 worn so not the long lasting legend of some posts on these. Not sure how much of the last 1/2 will be useable as its likely to get very square given the wear pattern so far. As a comparision I got just under 4000miles out of a Tourance EXP rear . Front K60 hardly appears worn apart from the knobs have rounded off thier edges....
Ps this is on a 1200 Supertenere

If you're touring on Tarmac why not fit road tyres such as Tourance/ EXP's, Conti road or trail attack or similar or am I missing something here ? :nenau

I'm going to Australia via Europe,"the Stans" China, SE Asia. There will be quite a bit off-road via the Pamir highway and other areas in the Stans. Therefore there will he a need for something a bit more "knobbly/aggressive" than ordinary road/ semi-road oriented tyres, and Heidenau were a consideration

They will need to last approx 8000miles before I am in a position too change to a more road type tyre in northern China.

Sorry not to have responded to your pm. It's an age thing:blast

The scout is a bloody good road tyre and I used them on the Alaska trips this year. The roads were everything from fast tarmac, brilliant twisties to hard packed gravel and slippery mud. The Scouts handled everything brilliantly and each trip was 8400 miles.

Out of 20 bikes, I think 17 used them and everyone liked them. In all that time we had just 2 punctures which is unbelievable.

To be honest, on tarmac they aren't as good as Battlewings, Tourances etc and on rough stuff they aren't as good as TKC's but as a mid way tyre they are the best out there. On gravel, the front feels a bit vague but once you get used to that, they are predictable and secure. They are a bit noisy on tarmac and the rear squares off quite quickly but you don't really notice that happening because they handle well right to the end of there life and we were running through fast twisties after 8000 miles fully loaded with no issues.

A couple of things to watch. Make sure the pressures are kept correct. I used 33 front and 36 back on all roads with no problem. If you go higher, they will wear quicker. The side walls are also very hard and mounting them can be difficult. Make sure you use a good tyre butter to help the bead seal or you may get leaking round the bead.

Overall, they are a great tyre, will be perfect for your trip and will do the mileage no problem:thumb

They wear quickly to start then just keep on going for ages and ages. Make sure your tyre pressures are right i.e 33 front and 36 back:thumb

I just changed my rear at 9500 miles and I guess there would have been 2 k left if I wanted them to last that long and believe me, that tyre was hammered:)

I'm with Sgt Bilco on this one. I usually see about 10,000-12,000 miles out of a pair. They seem to go off once the rear squares, squirrelling all over white road markings. Then they "come back" again and are good a few more thousand miles.

I always seem to have a small leak after having them fitted at a tyre centre; I've found that breaking the bead then applying loads of tyre soap before reinflating them usually does the trick. I guess their machine folds a bit of the bead forward.

Since I stopped fitting them myself, (Heides have a damn tight bead) I have had to this on every front tyre.

Am on my second set,6000 miles on rear last set before swapped them for new, front tyre still had tons of wear but I always change both, think there brilliant tyre all sorts of weather plus give them a big thumbs up when you find a country road covered in mud and crap, give them a go you won't be disappointed, only time I am bit less sure is cranked right over on rounder bouts they move a bit then, but still stick okay

Very good compromise tyre, you just have to remember NOT to push them too hard in the wet:thumb2

There you go, that's the bit I was missing or rather was missing from your original question

Only butch if the furthest you go is Tesco:augie

Waitrose dear boy

Try Oponeo. Mine were delivered in 5 days with great comms from them saying where they were up to in the process, plus Oponeo were also the cheapest, although I didn't really look too hard as I was more than happy with their price.

Sent from my iPhone with a smile :)
