Thanks Chad, should get them fitted next week, do you know if the directional arrows on tyres are ok now, i noticed from earlier threads some where installed with arrow reversed, have sent a e mail to Heidenau just to check:augie

i fitted vaders as per the arrows and had no complants:D

just for the record his front has covered nearly 14k now it pretty impressive when you see the amount of shit he loads his bike with on a trip:D:D

Just ordered a pair from Oponeo, £153 delivered:thumb

Yeap good tyres but don't drive far at high speeds on Tarmac. Having used them for years and probably the first ***er to put them on a 1200 they literally fell apart on sustained high speed riding.
Great for bimbling around, work well but the blocks literally fly off 'em if you ride them hard. :D

thats interesting Vader rides at twat speeds all the time and his have been fine . and as he says loaded up with his so called bare essentials :blast they still hold up:D

ill let you know how i get on im going to fit some to a 955tiger when i get it in a couple of months ,another heavy bike with plenty of grunt and my lardy arse on the back should be a good test:D:D

Destroyed 2 rears in 2000 miles each. Hard 2 up fully loaded in Europe. Killed the rears both times coming up from south of france and not on the Autoroute:blast
Used to find they lasted better than TKC's, but the TKC blocks did not fall off:eek:
I think they do grip better than TKC's on Tarmac.
They did not do a 150/70 when I ran them :thumb

Should also mention that we used to ride loads of Fire roads and tracks in the Alps (i.e. the Pass De Parpignan -9,860 ft Fire road) so the tyres we really worked hard, all my riding on Heidenaus was on mixed stuff so really gave them a battering hence 2000 miles for a rear. You should try offroading two up with her indoors standing up on the rear pegs:D

the new rear is heaps better with the joined blocks , i remember reading about the earlier ones having issue's and they pulled the largers sizes till the latest scouts came out:thumb2

the worst i ever had out of a TKC rear was 1650miles on my 990:eek: they are to pricey for that wear rate for me:D

Heidenau link

I ran a set of the originals with a 150 section rear, standard for the oilhead boxer GS's. This was the pattern still shown on the site in smaller sizes for the standard K60. It had no circumferential rib at all. It was then withdrawn as a 150 and modified to produce the pattern shown in the second image above for the rear and was then called the Scout. This was then superseded by the pattern shown in your top image with a very much bigger centre web linking the blocks.

I suspect that the redesign is an attempt to stop the blocks ripping off the carcass of the tyre under the stress of the big boxers etc. which a few people had complained about. It will also give a longer touring life but I don't know what the downside will be in mud. I got over 7,000 miles from the original design so unless the rubber compound has changed the newest version should give exceptional mileage.

I believe that their website is a bit out of date with the intermediate design still showing as the Scout in the tyre detail section but the new and latest design showing as the Scout in the news section:thumb2

So seeing as i'm an old codger and can't find the new 150/70 scout tyres can some clever soul post the actual link to the actual tyre !! Looks good with the continual tread and I always liked 'em and I need some new semi off road tyres that are better than Tourances etc:thumb
