Ok tossers, since HG has this offer of 40% off I decided to go have a look at the Summit suit. +-£500 with discount for a Goretex suit with vents in jacket and pants is a bargain for something that can be a 3-4 season suit. I know Ride gave it the thumbs up but I would like to know the real life experience with this suit from the owners. Anything you would change, what is the bad points and where does it excel. Would you buy it again?

I guess the closest suits in design is probably a Spidi Ergo or the KLIM Badlands or Rukka (last 2 is known for their quality and proven). What I want is Goretex outer shell with vents in pants and jacket front and rear that can be worn 3-4 seasons. The only suit to take you everywhere, mostly on tarmac and sometimes easy dirt roads.

I'm unable to compare with other suits as it's my first full goretex suit since getting back on two wheels recently. Before my back trouble laid me out for several years, Dainese were the leaders in what was laughingly called goretex "weather-proof" gear.

I've had my Summit suit a little over a year and am very happy with it.
It withstood the torrential downpours of last summer without any leaks.
It's versatile enough (by my standards) to be warm enough when needed, and equally has enough vents and removable linings to retain a decent level of cool air flow.
It even proved to be abrasive resistant (low speed).

One criticism is that the magnetic buttons on the neck fastening (with the winter muff attachment removed) can be a little quirky to close properly at times, and have occasionally caught on my Evoline 2 chin buckle and popped open. (Incidentally the neck muff is excellent).
Yes I'd buy it again BUT this time I'd ensure I got a longer leg in the trousers as I've found that over time and distance the bottom of the legs do ride up very close to the top of my Altberg boots.

Highly recommended, particularly with the current discount offered by HG.

Like the man said... I've also had one of these suits for a bit over a year and use it at least 5 days a week year round. It has worn really well although I did have a minor issue with one of the velcro tab and a stud popper which needed to be replaced under the 2 year warranty.

Defo get a long leg option if you have 32" + legs because I haev the same problem with my Daytonas. However when I checked recently the Southampton HG shop say that there were no more long leg trousers leg in a 52 (about 34" waist) and went onto say that the suit has been discontinued so it would be stocked in 2013. Therefore if you've found one at a sustantial discount in your size I'd get one.

:thumb2

I got one from HG in Leicester which is now my closest shop. Size 54 fits me perfectly. Only issue I had with it is the pants, it fits very well and goes easily over my Gaerne boots but the press fit button at the front would not last so I asked HG to change it for hook and loop arrangement. Going to pick it up tomorrow. Thanks for the input guys.

HG Summit!!

I've had an HG Summit suit for 18 months. I'm on the second set of trousers and jacket. 1st set of trousers were soaked after three weeks on the inside, swapped over by HG with no quibbles. Jacket went last summer, not so helpful had to get Trading Standards and Gore involved in that but I guess that was just before they went bust!!!

I've had to buy a BMW banana suit to go over the top when it really pisses down. I wouldn't touch HG kit again... Klim next, yes very very expensive but hopefully worthwhile?:aidan
