I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or any consumer advice.

I bought some Hein Gerike Journey trousers and have been very disappointed, they split along the seam within a month. I took them back after 2 months (I don't live that close to a shop) I wanted to replace them with a different pair of trousers, because I felt that although they could be repaired because of the way they are made and the quality of materials used they would tear again in a month.

It took a month for them to be repaired and a number of phone calls, my wish to pay more for better quality trousers was not even considered because they said they could be repaired. To my mind anything can be repaired but its the quality of the repair thats important. I had them 2 months they had them 1 month.

Anyway on picking the trousers up the seam was already stretched I complained about this and the staff seemed to believe that it was ok for me to bring them back every month to be repaired when I suggested that this was what would be required. They said they'd contact the repairs dept and express my dissatisfaction but rather than keep hold of the trousers felt that I should take them then bring them back if they'd repair them.

Anyway anyone else had this problem particularly with these trousers or Hein Gericke. Any ideas on my rights? Any suggestions welcome

Seems unusual for HG. All the reports I've heard about problems with their gear seem to have resulted in an instant replacement with new. :nenau

I've got the jacket and trousers, had them just over a year and wear them daily.

The original jacket had a cuff zip break and they replaced the jacket for a new one, no quibble.

I have Rukka gear too but rate the HG gear as better value for money, all of my Rukka gear has been replaced due to leaks, wouldn't buy Rukka again.

Anyway, just tell them that you are unhappy with the trousers and would like either a full refund or a replacement new pair.

It may be the store manager who needs to be spoken too, they usually know the score regarding customer rights.

The guy at the Purley store is very good.

Make the store manager aware of your complaint, be nice but assertive. You gave them the chance to repair the trousers, the result was not to your satisfaction. No question, full refund, and if they argue ask them for the name and address of the MD/Chief Exec, and tell them also that you will be contacting Trading Standards. The goods have to be 'fit for purpose'. Go get 'em mate :thumb

As MikeP said.,, I believe they have a 3 year guarantee on their clothings.,,,

On a different Forum I post on it ws mentioned by a guy who had his gloves for 2 years, lost the receipt, took the gloves back as they had a "No Quibble" guarantee, got a new pair straight away.
I remember this as I had a leaky pair ofgloves and wanted to return them,,, Buggers had moved by time I got round to it..

Whist I have never owned a pair of trousers like yours, I have owned (and still do) a reasonable amount of HG gear.

I have had two problems with different pairs of HG trousers but both times have had no problem getting them sorted out.

Problem one: A seam split on a pair of trousers about nine months old. They were exchanged, no problem at another HG strore.

Problem two: I found that the left trouser leg of my Voyager trousers rode up, over the top of my boot, when riding my Blackbird. When it rained the waterproofing (gortex) was fine but the water ran straight into my boot. I wrote to the Customer Services Manager (address on website, or it was) of the UK importer, explained the problem (basicaly it needed a velcro strap or something similar to pull it tight). I got a 100% refund and a 10% discount off the remodelled trousers, which now have a velcro strap.

I think your HG is being a bit unhelpful. Contact someone higher uo the foodchain.

My HG is great,no reciept for gloves bought almost two years ago which always seem to fall apart where they're glued. They cost me 55quid(Alpinestars) so i just take them in and they exchange them.....3times so far!! :thumb :thumb :D :D
