Hein Gericke Tuareg Rallye suit

Has anyone any experience of these suits ?

I went into Hein Gericke today and tried one on. It seems pretty good and you can take the Gore Tex liner out for cooler summer riding. It also has four vents on the front and one at the back. I know that the removable lining means that the pockets aren't waterproof, but I'm not particularly bothered as I usually have the topbox or panniers on the bike.

It's £210 for the jacket and £170 for the trousers including all the Hiprotec armour and a Backshock back protector which makes it much cheaper than the B*W Rallye 2 suit.

Its a good three season jacket but no good if your regularly riding in rain, the goretex inner is good but the out holds alot of water and can be pretty uncomfortable. Great in the summer though

HG do seem to make some very high quality stuff at very good prices.

I bought one of their lightweight 'AirFlow' style jackets and trousers last summer (can't recall wgat they called it). I had a problem with one of the fasteners, went back, and it was swapped right away, no questions asked. I like that kind of service.

Not HG Tuareg but.....

Belstaff Adventure jacket and pants are currently on sale at 50% of RRP in various Belstaff dealers throughout the land.

ISTR I paid £75 for the jacket and about £60 for the pants. They're not waterproof but both come with waterproof overgarments. Also, the pants will fit over motocross boots.

I have had Tuareg rallye stuff for 5 years now and find it to be really good. the one problem is with the pants with the lining in they are to hot for the summer and with the lining out they dont fit to well, neither the jacket or pants are waterproof with liner removed.

I'm on my second HG Gortex Tuareg Rally suit. IMHO they are an excellent all round suit. Good enough for winter with the thermal liner in and in summer with the liner out and the vents open. I agree with Jim-650 though, they are a pain if they get soaked. They're only waterproof with the liner in and the outer shell takes ages to dry. I only have one suit and this is it, so if it rains heavily I wear a lightweight 2 piece waterproof suit over the top. This works well as if it rains in winter it's an extra layer of insulation and I never get cold, and in the summer it means I don't have to wear the liner in if it rains. The problem I've had with suits with a Gortex outer shell is that they don't allow enough air flow during hot weather.

Thanks for that. I also find the Goretex outer shell too warm for summer, I've got an HG Voyager jacket now and that's the reason I want to change.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I'm still not sure, I might find a Belstaff distributor and go and have a look at that option as well.

Get the Tuareg Rally Basic suit.

Unlike the others (Trail or Rallye Raid) it remains waterproof with the thermal liner removed.

.... and it's cheaper !!!

Don't ask me why, but you can call HG and check if you want.
