And anyone who cares to come to HG Dudley will get our best attention as me and Matt are both GS ADV owners and if you want to quote the sale of goods act we'll happily kick you up the arse as we show you the door!!!:mcgun

Ah, thanks for reminding me why I don't buy HG stuff anymore:rolleyes:

I use the HG branch in Purley and have taken things back in the past without any issue.

I found out yesterday that my TRG Rallye GTX boots leak

Had them since June last year, gave 'em a call and they will change them for the new version of the same. Popping in later on:thumb

I always keep my receipts for bike gear, two reasons, first for guarantee issues, the second is if I have to claim after an accident.

Gericke service

Have bought loads of stuff from gericke and have been very pleased with it.
However the HG shop in Welling Kent won't be getting any more visits from me after a recent experience.
I need a new oversuit and went in to see what they had - wandered around for about 10 minutes - no customers in the shop - the two assistants were otherwise engaged - one was outside having a smoke and the other was lounging over a bike in the window taking a personal call on his mobile phone!

not one said a word or even acknowledged my existence - a favour I'll return by no longer acknowledging theirs!

:spitfire

As has been said earlier - all depends on the quality of the staff inside. Lincoln HG have some excellent staff. Others, by the sound of it, aren't as good.

New boots today on the way home, the new pair were £10 more than the originals. No problem they said, take 'em as a warranty exchange, no extra charge. Nice as pie and no hassle :thumb

The only people we seem to get at HG Dudley who kick off are the obvious ones who lose or never did have a till receipt!!!!:thumb Are you getting the picture? Hein Gericke now sell seconds via the BMF jumble sale twice a year, we also sell stuff that's seconds on eBay:thumb WELL when Mr know all the rules comes in with his 18 month old jacket with a broken zip and expects it repaired for nothing he really should be expected to PROVE he paid for it NEW sometime in the last 2 years:blast
If we just did warranties for any piece of HG clothing then the cost of new stuff would rise every year without fail!!! You wouldn't get far at an elecrical shop with your knackered TV, Microwave etc without proving that you actually bought it off them (Till receipt) in the first place!!!!
As for the customer always being right????:nono How do you explain to some arsehole who pulls up at 4.15pm in a Mercedes that we always shut at 4.00pm on Sundays but he knows different as he's always shopped at Hein Gericke!!! Answer. lock him in the carpark and shut the shop:thumb2 Welcome to Dudley home of the beligerent:cool:

Before I moved from Northern Ireland, Hein Gericke set up in Belfast (Hi Guys) always friendly and got "hooked" on their gear BUT found after a couple of years of use it started to leak, boots, jackets, trousers.

Also jackets seemed to retain the water, especially the pockets, twice as heavy with the inner being the waterproof part. Could be talking nonsense but thats my impression.

With the relaunch of Belstaff decided to go back to my roots and ordered a wax cotton jacket, now with armour, removeable lining, venting etc and without the distinctive wax smell.

But because the jackets are now made in Italy the sizing seems to have gone "off" even with the largest size the jacket it fitted around the chest but had a 32" waist size, not for the bigger beer bellied male size.

Now in possesion of an Aerostich Falstaff jacket excellent piece of kit from the USA, good sizing guidelines and email contact with them, even with tax and Post Office handling worked out cheaper than the Belstaff jacket.

Only problem is that the main zip, for the UK, is on the girls side, right hand operation, I'm wearing a ladies jacket :hide

HG Bristol

Been buying stuff from them for years. In the early days the zips an velcro used to give out, but they have improved on this. Recently took back a pair of trousers that the fly zip had gone. Repaired in under 10 days. (no receipt)
Their Tuareg range is great and a darn site cheaper than BMW Ralley stuff.
Friendly staff and usually a few bargains to be had.:thumb2

Both myself and my wife have bought loads of stuff from HG in Northampton and have had nothing but 100% service every time, even when they are busy. Had a zip break with a cruise jacket, they phoned a local shop with one in my size and got it in within days. Can't recomend them enough.:thumb

I have had no issues at all with Hein Gericke service or staff, and find their clothing top quality, ie I bought their Tuareg clothing and wore it for 18 months through all weathers with no real problems, warm and mainly dry, sold it and bought BMW rallye gear, cost around 2 1/2 times more leaks badly and is not in the least bit warm, good in the summer though, also looks nice!!! This winter going to go back to Heine Gericke.

No you aren't, American zips are like that for blokes:thumb

Odd really, but true, just like how American stripey ties go the opposite way to UK ones:nenau

Thanks shready I had started to wonder :o

And as for the ties :nenau

However

10 Things You Didn't Know About Men's Ties!

1) The necktie originated from a silk scarf worn by Croatian soldiers - it became known as the cravate.

2) Marv Beloff invented the wooden bow tie in 1993. He sells nine basic homemade styles and insists that the only things you have to worry about when you wear them are "termites and fires."

3) The stripes on British ties usually run from top left to bottom right while the stripes on American ties run from top right to bottom left.

4) 300 years ago the English developed neckwear so thick that they could stop a sword thrust.

5) At one point in history, merely touching a man's tie knot was cause for a duel.

6) Americans spend more than $1 billion each year to buy a staggering 100 million ties.

7) A good quality silk tie will require approximately 110 silkworm cocoons.

8) The city of Shengzhou in China is one of the world's biggest tie producers, with 200 million ties made there each year.

9) It is possible to buy a bulletproof tie that will stop a 9mm bullet.

10) A person who collects ties is called a Grabatologist.

Can't find why the stripes on American ties got the opposite way apart from this.

British ties are striped diagonally downward from the left shoulder to the right hip, and American ties from the right shoulder to the left hip.

It is fashionable to assume that the British are more "correct", and the underlying practical reason can be interpreted that way: in a British tie, the line of the knot is parallel to the line of the tie; in an American tie, the
knot is perpendicular.

I will now get my coat and leave the room. :augie

Bullson Boots

I just had my Bullson Boots exchanged by HG Nottingham - the handle had come off the zip on one boot, didn't really want to change them as they were mega comfortable, 18 months old, done about 20k in all weathers. No receipt but I downloaded the bank statement when they were bought,(receipt had faded in the sun).

I'm having a problem with their loyalty card - bought a £450 suit and after five visits the points are still not on the card - each time I go in to use them I get told they are not on and end up buying another full price item.

Folks in the shop are helpful but not got anywhere with it.

I tried to email them but at first their system wouldn't work via the webpage.

They finally seemed to get it fixed so I mailed them - been a week and no reply.

There is now supposed to be over £40 on there which I was going to use against some boots. I think I will buy at a small local instead if they don't sort it soon.

I've bought most of my kit over the last 4 years or so from HG in Purley. Their stuff seems a good compromise between cost and quality - sorry I can't afford Ruka.
HG in purley have always been excellent, including replacing my jacket (just out of warentee) with a new one. I couldn't find the receipt, but did have credit card statement showing a purchase from them for the right amount. They accepted that as proof of purchase.
