Hi Guys!

Just had my 05 GS1200 here in Cebu (Philippines) fitted with dual Hella fanfaren horns. As per the instructions on this site the technicians fitted the horns using a relay system and 20 amp fuse. Worked great while out for a ride the other day but this morning no horns? Nothing show as amiss on the start-up. Any ideas what might be the problem All suggestions gratefully accepted as riding without a horn out here is positively suicidal!

Fault locating

Barry, can you hear or feel the click of the relay operating when pushing the horn button? If not, check carefully all connections for the "trigger" wire to the relay and also the groundnegative wire, try a new relay. Otherwise, check fuse, check all connections including the grounding of the horn and terminal "spades". A sloppy job might cause very loose cable termination. Try to shortcircuit the in and out terminals of the relay contacts and see if the horn works, if not, the horn might be defective. Try with a length of wire to connect directly from the +terminal on horn compressor to the battery for a final check of the horn. Good luck :comfort.

Just out of curiosity, did you bring the GS with you to the Phil. or did you buy it there, if so, may I be bold enough to ask how much does a GS cost in Phil?

Zigo - thanks for the fast response. No, no click. Just pressed the horn and nothing! Shall try your suggestions!
I bought my bike here in the Phils. There is a BMW motorrad dealer and service facility in Manila but I live on another island (Cebu) some 700kms away! Not sure of kroner exchange rate but a new GS here will cost around twice the UK new price - around 1,250,000 pesos, probably more for the GS Adv and thats before you think about system cases. Used BMs also go at a premium price unfortunately!
Cheers - Barry
