Didnt know where to put this thread so it goes in here....
Does anybody know where there is a stockist for the above mentioned items? Tried Halfords "No longer do them mate, nobody was buying em"... lots of customer help there then?
Hella have a website but all the dealers they are listing are miles away and have to order the things in,(plus they want payment up front.)
Have got a MiGSel light bar on order and nothing to put on it..BOO HOO HOO
I am in the Midlands area but am open to suggestions.(Will give me an excuse to put some miles on the GS which i pick up in the morning!!!!!!!!!!
So no more wingeing people about "This being the longest night!!" Counting the minutes till you get your new bike and all that bollox, try doing a night shift and then going to fetch your pride and joy.Trying to stay awake and not bin the bloody thing before you even get it home!!!!
"END OF RANT!!!"
the Clown :0):D

I had the same problem but if you check out
http://www.hella.co.uk/
and navigate to "where to find us " you'll find at least 4 in Birmingham and there are loads in central england, Iv'e just got a pair of FF50's to add to the pathetic main beam, if you are using with the dipped beam you might take a look at the DE fogs these are a projector type with a real wide & even beam pattern to set at the dipped beam level.
I also got a pair of very neat 80mm dia fanfare horns (110 Db ) £22.00 the pair, wow are these loud, I made a U shaped bracket from an aluminium coat hook, if the lights don't get 'em the horns will.

DE lights

I fitted a pair of FF75s (flat version of FF50) linked to main beam and a pair of DE fogs linked to dipped beam. Used a homemade bar similar to MigSel, with the FFs on top and DEs below, all liked by a single bolt. Used the wiring diagram from MikeO (modified to incorporate an on/off for the DEs).
Works a treat, not too expensive.

Got mine.

Hella FF50's cost me £34.00 +vat, but thats trade price. The retail is £48.81 +vat. If you go to Kirby and Sons in Chesterfield (just off the roundabout and almost opposite Kwik- fit) and talk nicely to the man behind the counter maybe he'll knock some dosh off for you.

They have stock, least they did when I was in there today (09/09/):)

And from below...

Will probably replace the alloy light bar with a stainless steel one - vibrates a bit much at the moment:

Micro DE?

Thanx for the nice pictures, gives me some idea what mine will look like if i ever get all the bits together in one place at the same time!!!
Are the Micro DE`s a fog or driving light? Looks like some very heavy cable going to them, what sort of wattage are we looking at ?
While were on the subject of bulbs and stuff, what can i put on the bike (Aux lighting) with out melting anything?

Here, I'll give you a hand :D

Mine are 55W each, all four. Main beam is 55W also.

Micro DE's are fog lights. I think they are 55W each too, as are the Hella FF75 driving lights.

You do need extra wiring from the battery to power the lights, and an extra fuse. Don't connect it all to the stock wiring, or you will get a melt down!

And stainless definitely is better. Don't forget small slotted holes for the cable ties and "GS" cutouts

Cheers MiGSel....

Got a piccie from the front?
What i am planning......
Hella ff50-75 (think thay have got the 75`s in stock down at Halfords). Wired tru relay to main beam.
Some form of fog light wired tru Motoswitch so i can turn it on/off at will....
This setup sound Ok to the people who have aleady gone down this road?

Sounds like a good plan Crusty.

Will this do or what did you have in mind for a front view?

Crusty

Given that the cables are exposed to the elements, I went a bit overboard and used cable with a rubber cover. Doesn't need to be this thick (unlike me) as each lamp only draws 55w - about 5 amps.
I used a two relay wiring diagram that I got from Mike O which means only one power lead from the battery (via a waterproof 15 amp blade fuse) and the lights will switch automatically between high and dip as you use the regular dipswitch. Only modification I made was to add a manual switch in the dip signalling circuit, so that if the police got funny I could turn off the Micro DEs and ride with the normal dipped headlight.
Once I understood how the two relay system worked, the wiring was easy - the only tricky part was finding somewhere for the relays and gubbins. In the end I used the space behind the RID and everything worked out fine. Trickiest bit? Lifting the (nearly full) Adventure tank and simultaneously undoing the fuel disconnects!
Thanks to all the guys who helped and gave me ideas.

How does one buy a MiGSel light bar? It isn't obvious from his website, and one can't PM him.

MiGSel Light Bar

I hope he does mind me posting his e-mail address here.... But send him a message and he will sort you out with one,(also does a very fetching line in oil cooler covers...) Just had mine delivered today, very good quality stuff. Mark:D

Mick,

that's exactly how to do it. The problem with fitting the lights at a different level from your headlamps is that you can't use the trusty old 'garage door' method of alignment, because the low set lights will be tilted up too much and dazzle oncoming drivers.

Find a quiet unlit road and cover one lamp (top tip - gloves do this job really well;)) whilst you adjust the other, then cover that one & do the other and Bob's your Aunty's live in lover......

Mike:)

Thanks for that Mike, will have a night out tomorrow and see what happens........shouldnt have to much of a problem dazzling other drivers as they are only set to come on when main beam is switched on.
