Hella Micro DE light Pattern?

Does anyone know the light pattern for the Micro DE's?

I've got a set of Ring Micro Cruise lights (as used in the Wunderlich Microflooters) and they've got a great light spread. Very Very wide rectangle pattern easily viewable from the side but doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic.

My PIAA 510's have a very narrow long distance throw.

I'm wondering what the pattern is on the Hellas as I find the Ring's are good a performance, but not so good on quality (changing bulb is a pain too compared to the 30 second jobbie on the PIAA's).

Also, do they usually get supplied with 35W or 55W bulbs?

Micro DE's come with 55-watt H3 bulbs and the spread pattern is a big rectangle.

Or a much much brighter rectangle if converted to 35 watt HiD

thinking of getting a set of these and the question is which set should i go for.i have just got a hid head and dim light kit for the standard headlight and am trying to decide between the wunderlich kit or something similar
should i go for the one headlight and one fog light set up or just go with two fog lights.
also where is the best place to buy a complete kit i want brackets lamps wiring and all that included at the one time
any experence and advice would be most helpfull

I guess one big difference is the Micro DEs are projector lights rather than reflector lights like the Rings.

Projector lights will give you are far more accurate beam cutoff, with a much sharper cutoff "line". The advantage of that is several-fold. It mans right up until the top edge of the light (which is the part that shines down the road) you can have a very concentrated intensity ... allowing you to maximise how you set the light up in terms of getting the cut off as far down the road as possible, while still cutting the beam off sharply so that it doesnt shine in oncoming peoples eyes.

It also means you can significantly "beef up" the power of the light source inside the light (with higher power bulbs or ultimately HIDs) without excess glare to oncoming drivers, knowing that (if the lens is clean) the sharp cutoff of a projector light ensures that minimal light is going to shine in oncoming peoples eyes. The sharp cutoff also helps to ensure that in a real fog situation, minimum stray light goes up into the fog.

A reflector light like the rings, or microflooters will typically have the brightest part of the light in the centre, with gradual fade outs towards the edges. That not ideal for shining down the road. Because the surface you are illuminating (the road surface) is not a flat wall in front of you, but a flat surface at a very small angle to the lights, you need to be able to concentrate more light in the areas far away from the headlight. You need to do that to get an even spread of light on the surface of the road, which is what you want fog lights to do. A pattern that shows an even illumination on a vertical wall (perpendicular to the light) will not show an even pattern on a road (almost parallel to the light). There will be too much light close to the bike and not enough to the sides or to the distance.

Reflector lights are great for spot lights, but I would go for projector foglights at every opportunity, and thats the DEs.

The DEs throw out light at about 45 degrees either side of the bike ... they really illuminate the "verges" well.
