and this as well...
I have just bought a pair of these off ebay. However, instead of the rubber cap at the rear end they have a plastic twistlock type cap with a rectangular connector plug, and also there is no U shaped bracket for mounting them to anything, just the two threaded holes in the sides. Obviously from a specific car application.
Is there anywhere I could get the bits from? I could probably obtain some kind of bracket, but I'd rather have the rubber cap than the plastic one with the connector in it.

From what it sounds like you have the xenon version of the DEs. There should be a separate balast box for each light which has the cap on it. I don't know if they can be converted to standard halogen bulbs.
The holes in the side are correct and they are where you attach the mounting bracket. You may be able to get those from hella but hella UK only appear to do wholesale.

Like you Brassmonkey, I bought a pair of Micro DEs on eBay which judging from your description are the same as those you bought. They are not, as has been suggested, the xenon version. Well not in my case anyway.

I kept the "twist cap" on the body of the lamps, but modified them to suit. Like you I received no brackets with the lamps, so I made my own, a simple and quick wee job.

When I get home from work I will take a few pics of my setup and post them here if that would be of any assistance.

HTH :)

No, they're not HID type, they have ordinary H3 halogen bulbs fitted.
On closer inspection the mounting holes don't look like they are threaded either. That can be remedied easily enough though.
I was hoping BTBR might look in here and give me some answers but I'll PM him as well.
Aidan - pics would be useful, I'll PM you.

My suggestion is to re-list on ebay. If you are riding an 1150 buy the HID kit, no need for any relays, brackets or extra wire harness work. A big improvement mod without as much work and expense.

Flipfly is running the BTBR type set up, now he has the HID for dipped beam you can't see the DE's on the road.

It's me!!! Are they Fog lights or Aux lights. I think the Aux/spot version of the DE's has a patterned lens.
I have the HID and for dipped beam it is the best solution although I would still recommend the FF50n for the full beam. The Micro DE's give a slightly wider spread than the HID (now that I've adjusted them) so are good for picking out grids and manhole covers!!!!

Handy after that late night drinking session when it's nice and dark :thumb

Still rate the DE's as a good safety measure though as cars do see you earlier and makes them think a wagons coming at them doing 80mph :D :D

You are obviously likeing the HID's as much as me buddy. I took mine over to Sheffield on Monday night last week to look at a Transalp for Mrs Flip. Only way to describe the lights now is................Illuminating. It's like God realizing you are struggling and giving you a helping hand by placing the sun on the front of your bike. I thought Honda lights were good. They are candles in comparison to the nucular powered bulbs that light the way for me.
HID and FF50, cheap, easy to install and Feckin awesome. :thumb :thumb

They all come like that, the bracket screws cut their own thread. :thumb

Need a set of these to mount on my Landy if anyone feels the need to part with some.. ;)
