I am just after a bit of advice I have moved over to an RT after spending the last number of years riding Harley's/cruisers with an open faced HJC helmet, with a little period with a GS wearing a Spada helmet.
I am currently using a Shark Raw helmet but it doesn't impress me on the RT. I have been looking at the Caberg Duke flip front helmet and wondered what people's opinions of it are.
All help and advice appreciated as usual. 😎

Don't know the Caberg, but the Shoei Neotec is good if it's a flip you want. Moved away from that to a schuberth S2 recently, which I really like so far...

I like the idea of a flip front for when riding around town or in traffic and then it's a full face when making progress😇

For what it's worth I went from a Thuderbird storm with a schoei XR1100 to an RT with a neotec (bought on here).

The neotec is almost a a half size down, and with a better fit for me and the RT wind protection I can't believe how brilliant it is to be back into "silent" biking. I don't think I've been so comfortable since I had my ZX9 in the 90's.

So, big thumbs up for the neotec from me!

helmets threads are now like tyre threads ,,,,which is best !!!

ALL helmets have different insides so its best to try on the ones you think will work for you rather than purchase Shoei's and Arai's are completely different shells on the inside . …if the shoei neotech fits ,i can recommend that .

do you have the Audio on the RT ? if so only the BMW helmets with the comms work proper .

My reason for asking is I have run open face helmets pretty much for all of the last 15 years the RT is a different kettle of fish for me. I know certain helmets I don't like the fit of and I am going to look at some others but was just after some general advice on people's experiences of these style of helmets.

My bike is a 55 plate no audio. If I get on with it and the better half likes it I will trade up to a newer one.

I use a BMW System 6 latest edition and it's fine, but drew the line at the cost of the blurtooth system so went with Scala Q3.

+1 exactly what I have.

The BMW helmet is made by Schubeth and I very comfortable and light.

The best thing about it is that it is very quiet. Much quieter than my Shoei Neotech that i had to abandon as it was so noisy...

I had a Schuberth C2 for many years, and switched to a C3 last year. A flipper gives you the best of both worlds, I would not consider a full face helmet as they feel so restricted after a flip.

One criticism of the C2 was the LH side flip release. This was a pita, and has moved to the chin bar on the C3, which is a great improvement.

Check that your life saver shoulder check is satisfactory in a flipper, older members with restricted head/neck movement may have trouble with the slightly reduced visibility due to the side mechanism.

Shark Evoline 3 Pro Carbon. Is without doubt theee best flip I've ever used. Converts to a proper open face, and very comfy.

Schuberth J1 open face with chin guard. Works fine, all year round. Quiet, excellent vis and they can see if you are smiling or snarling at them!!
Sadly they've stopped making them

I hear people are mighty impressed when they see you. Stick with it, mate.
