Anyone recommend a good hemet earphone set for connecting to GPS 2.5mm audio? Don't use (or want to use) autocom or earprotectors, just hear turn directions.
Buy a cheap pair of Walkman type headphones (you may already have a set) and take one of the speakers and the leads from there. Fitting to the helmet is more difficult. Despite the small size of the headphone my Caberg doesn't have any space for it and I've had to take out some of the foam in order to fit it. One other thing is I can only hear the instructions up to about 40 or so but I also wear earplugs so that doesn't help.
I've seen small pre-amps (Boosteroo?) but if I used one of those it would be deafening at slow speeds. No easy answer...
You can also use good quality "bud" type earphones if you're stuck for space. Most helmets have somewhere you can stick them, and if you route the cable behind the padding they'll go nowhere. OK, so you need to do a bit of soldering for connectors etc., but sure that's all part of the fun.
i also have a caberg helmet, the justissimo model and fitted the bass monster speakers no prob,
used a soldering iron to melt the polestyrene to the desired size and correct position for the speakers
for my ears, they do really need to be almost exactly in line with you ear for best results.
i also wear earplugs and can still hear the music and gps voice at 80ish albeit quieter.
i have also tried the boostaroo with the bass monster speakers and found it
distorted the sound very badly, so dont use it anymore.
I have an old five pin Autocom headset in my Helmet. On the GS I have it wired through the Autocom. On the GSXR its wired directly to the Garmin 2610 lead using a 5pin din to 2.5mm jack that autocom made for me £15.00. Using the Amp in the garmin I can hear it earplugs in up to 100mph+. To be honest is louder and clearer than playing it through my old Autocom Eurocom on the GS.
Can someone in the know confirm whether the audio socket for a 2610 is the same as for an SPIII. I don't want to buy something that I can't transfer if / when I upgrade. Ta
