It seems my head is relatively long front to back, and thinner side to side.

Imagine looking down on a rugby ball…

My last few helmets have all felt ok in the shop, but after only an hour at highway speeds I get a lot of pressure on my forehead - enough to be really uncomfortable.

My last helmets have been Premier, Bell, Spada and HJC. All gave the same issue.

Today I tried on a few at Infinity and the only manufacturer that felt properly comfortable was Airoh. I am happy to soend uo to £250 (so Shoei is out) - is anyone aware of other manufacturers who make helmets with a similar fit to the Airoh?

Btw, naked bike, and i do like a drop down sun shade.

Also, use Sportbikeshop excellent and free cheek pad fitting service. Their warranty is 2nd to none too. They’ll accept returns months after settling-in period.

Simpson & Nexx are a couple to think of

I'm a small head size, so manufacturers think that means small chin bar, i open my mouth to speak and whack the chin bar

go to a meduim and its loose fit

Arai don’t make any helmets with drop down sun shades afaik
Most are doing a blue (light tint) inner shade now, totally useless on a very sunny day DAMHIK

Ive started wearing my own sunnys , with bifocal inserts now to improve things

Arai doesn't make sun drop. I use sunglasses generally, never been an issue. But this is down to personal preference.
Most Arai street helmets are bit more round than oval shape.
I think the term they use is "long oval".

I have a similar issue and my road helmet is (quite old now) a QV, that replaced the Chaser line I think.

did you try on a Shoei as a reference point?

Nolan and Shark have the same parent and fit my Shoei shaped head as discussed in a recent Oxo thread

if you are not Shoei shape, try LS2 as they did not fit me

I also tried on an LS2 the other day and found it very narrow in the cheek department…..but having met the OP I’m definitely more Hamster faced that him.

Shoei Glamster good for naked bike too. I’ve heard they can get noisy though.
SBS return policy could well be a consideration if you go down this route 🤔

I recently needed to upgrade my old HJC flip front after a small drop. I seem to have a long face as I struggle to get one that covers my chin and also wanted an upgrade to my intercom - an old Sena SMH10. Went into SBS in Bristol, tried on loads, and it was either another HJC/ Nolan, which are very similar......or I saw that Sena make their own helmet, complete with internal drop down sun visor, flip front that fits, and an integral Sena Mesh intercom, for £289. Happy days, as it fitted just fine and was well spec'd. Came home, tried it on again and fiddled with the comms but couldn't get it to pair with my friends and their Cardo units. Apparently Sena have removed the ability to universally pair with non Sena units so my intercom was pretty much useless for what I want. But SBS wouldn't take it back for a refund as I had removed the sticky visor overlay - even though the helmet had never been used, just tried on in my home. Bit miffed really, as it wasn't clear about the restrictions on comms compatibility as it was such a new helmet I couldn't find any relevant reviews. Maybe their policy with Arai is slightly more flexible

It might be down to the branch?! Glasgow and Birmingham (previously) have always been good with me. I’d call their head office and plead your case.
I usually use their try/ buy service and never had issue 🤔

Helmet returns are valid for 1 year with SBS.
If they gave me any grief (and they haven’t) I’d dispute transaction with bank 😬
Simples!

Yeah, that's what I thought, but they were adamant (I rang the head office, rather than the store) that it couldn't be resold as new as it wasn't complete. I've used it for a few weeks now so don't suppose I've got any comeback, but until you try it out on the bike you've no idea how it's going to perform, especially noise and buffeting

@The Other PaulG , just go and pay T**t in the Cap a visit at Motolegends. They will sort you out no doubt with a custom fit Shoei helmet.
