Helmet sizing

Just taking licence and looking for a sensibly priced helmet (£100- £150 max). I visited a shop and tried a few on but sizing seems to vary a lot.
I measure 59.5cm so I tried on a GIVI X08 in a large which seemed slightly too big so tried on the medium which although it fitted it just didn't feel right, it sat too high on my head. Tried a few other brands on but none felt right, is it a matter of trailing round a few shops until find something that does or will they settle in after a while.
Any guidance on brand sizing and any brands that seem to be very specific for a certain head shape?

Always try as many helmets on as you can..... you learn with time that not all sizes are remotely the same among different manufacturers.

I went to buy her a shoei med too big
After trying on a few she opted for the shoei xs

He said people come in try on loads of helmets then shoot off and buy online

Thanks for information guys.
I've just done my CBT today and borrowed a Nitro helmet which is a friends spare, it fitted perfectly. Just hated all the colours.

Schtum thanks for those links, should be able to narrow my search down a bit with those.
