Helmets - best anti-mist? Not System 5 :D

Right, I've suffered enough and the System 5 must go. It's a decent enough summer helmet but the lack of anti-mist features in the design is a serious safety hazard imo. Does anyone know of ANY helmet that will remain mist free in all weather? I ride in mixed conditions all year round and travel 80 miles a day, mainly inner city and slow B roads where misting can be a real problem. I've already made my views known regarding the failings of this helmet (search for the poll if you can be bothered) so I dont want to hear from the (few) 'It's OK for me' (fair weather?) types. :rolleyes: I'm thinking Shoei with pinlock etc. I've no particular budget and just want a good well designed and mist free lid. :thumb

Yeah I'd be interested to know too.

I've owned an Arai Quantum F for the last 5 years and while it is incredibly comfy and great most of the time, when it rains boy does it mist up quick. Being a specs wearer, its a complete pain in the bristols as opening the visor doesn't help (obviously)
 
I've got a Shoei xr1000 with pinlock which is pretty much the only helmet I wear in winter, great in the rain and in really cold conditions. I have a system 4 which is for summer use only due to same problems your having with the system5, mind you a fog city usually works well on any helmet.
 
Without a fog city this is the only kind I know of that stay completely mist free in cold wet weather :D

Cheers guys :) Yeah I've tried the fog city (pita to fit to the 5 due to the curvature of the visor) but it scratches far too easily, too quickly, completely ruining its effectiveness at night. Shoei xr1000 is on my hot list. I wish you could road test helmets tbo. It's a big finincial outlay for something that might be as much use as a chocolate kettle :D
 
The best...indeed,ULTIMATE......is the Lazer Revolution flip front.

It was originally designed as a snowmobile helmet and also marketed for jetski competition use.

The visor is double glazed and DOES NOT MIST UP even in severe frosty conditions.

(It needs no anti fog inserts or gloop to be applied to the inner face.)

There`s a fighter pilot style face mask with the helmet,too,but unless you`re a rubber fetishist don`t bother with it because you`ll smell a bit odd after using it as well as having the outline of it embossed on your cheeks for a while.

Also,there`s a pull down inner tinted sunvisor,so the helmet is great in all conditions.

The liner pulls out for easy washing as well.

I`ve crashed wearing a Lazer Revolution and landed heavily on the side of my head.....the helmet stayed locked closed despite being scuffed and gouged to hell and I just had a bruise on my temple from the impact.

Thoroughly recommended piece of kit. :thumb

Hmm, I've been told from various people that the double visor isnt 'that' much better. Can you expand on this Mick? What kind of riding do you do? Inner city? Autumn/Winter? The few people I've spoke to (including my tame BMW parts person ;)) say it's OK on faster roads but still mists up due to the crap design of the helmet vents. How much was it anyway as I never asked?

I have the XR1000 with pin lock and find it excellent in all conditions.

Emm, YESSS! :D Well it is a very soft material, certainly not anti-scratch, and as I do roughly 25K miles pa on bikes perhaps I've abused it ;)
 
To add something constructive this time..................

Why not try a Shoei (far better build quality than the Arai) with Pinlock insert.

The Pinlock removes easily for cleaning (unlike the FogCity) and can be bought relatively cheaply off Ebay (£12-ish?)

Those whom wear perscription glasses often find the problem lies there. Any good advice from those optically challenged ??
