People,

I currently have a Schuberth Concept, which is getting the worse for wear, and I am looking at something to replace it. The one thing I really love about the Schuberth is the flip-down sunshade / sun visor. Totally brilliant when riding in and out of sunlight, e.g. in and out of tunnels, through woods, etc.

Now my question is, if I want a sun visor, am I stuck with a Schuberth (either a Concept, C2 or an S1)?

I know that Nolan also make a helmet with a sun visor (the N84)

But the problem with this is it is really hard to raise and lower this visor while on the go. In fact, it's quite frustrating, as if they had just added a small tab to the sun visor, raising and lowering would be simple. But they didn't, so you'd have to pull over and stop, raise / lower the sun visor, then ride off again.

So, any other options?

You could always stick a little tag on the visor yourself! Might be a bit noisy though?

I use a C2 and find the sun visor really useful in spring and autumn, its always dark in the winter commute and in the summer I don't get up early enough for the sun to bother me!

Sheo  :bounce1

Yes.

Lazer Revolution...flip front and highly recommended by me.

Caberg Justissimo...flip front and highly recommended by Glambabe.

Just for information here is a Caberg after an accident did do its job but it the accident had been harder? Note the broken chin bar

i got a caberg justissimo a few months ago ,great lid and the sun visor is a godsend at this time of the year, dead easy to use too, without earplugs it is noisy but with them in it,s fine ,however with the front flipped up it does feel a little flimsy, but then i never ride with it up ,btw as a spectacle wearer the sun visor is no problem to use . for the money a great lid :)

I've had the Schuberth S1 for over a year and am well chuffed with it. I bought it specifically for the sun visor, which works very well and is simplicity itself to use on the move. I find it to be a match for the Arai and AGV I've used previously in terms of comfort, finish, durability and being quiet. The only thing I'd fault is that it is more prone to fogging than the aforementioned, though nothing that doesn't clear by keeping it raised by a notch or two. If I had to replace it I wouldn't look any further than another one. :thumb Oh, and ask for a discount, I paid £275 for mine.

Another point for the Lazer in this respect,as the clear visor is double glazed and won`t mist even when closed and in sub zero temperatures.

It was originally designed as a snowmobile helmet.

I bought the lazer as recommended by Tarka. Its everything he described. I wear specs and although it does mist a little if really cold, mostly it stays competely clear. havent had much of a chnace to use the visor but its easy to use.
decent kit and looks good.

Nolan also do a flip-down sunstrip on a lift-up lid.

Have you thought about fitting a HyperOptic reactive visor insert? Don't use one myself, but anyone I know who does love them.

Ive got a Caberg Justissimo and its a great feature with the sun visor, BUT its noisy, how noisy is the Lazer.......on a scale of 1:10 ???

That`s a bit too subjective and there`s too many variables involved really, but mine was quieter than my Bell Moto 6 and Simpson RX1 but a bit noisier than my Roof Boxers.

Irrelevent anyway as they`re all the same when wearing earplugs.....

I have Lazer flip front, as stated before it will never mist up due to double glazed visor, but it is a bit noisy and heavy.

I also have a Caberg V2 with flip down visor, it is very quiet and very comfy light and as yet has never misted up on me.

You pays yer money and takes yer choice

Laser Revolution

I purchased a Laser Revolution to go with the Ginetta, the only problem I have on the bike is that it might be a little too large for my head, and it feels a bit heavy, and I tend to hit the shoulder armour when doing rear checks.

Other than that it looks smart when people try to see inside it, the inner rubber mask fits the inner black visor, and that visor also directs your breath away from the screen, and keeps the pollen out too!
