I recently bought a 1150GSA SE with black plastic system panniers. I thought about going for the ally luggage but the black works well with the bike so I bought a matching system top box.
The problem is that the system top box rack that came with it is no good whatsoever with the ADV rack. I'd like to know if there's some sort of adapter to make this happen before I start inventing something for myself.
Cheers,
Paul

There's a few posts on fitting the GSA topbox to GS's so I'd have thought that there'd be not much of a problem going the other way. If there is, might it be easier to call it quits and get a givi / H & B etc topbox with their fitting kit?

Paul,

You will have to get the standard GS rear mounting bracket then mount your system topbox. I went the other way and changed it for the ADV bracket

Dinger, I had the system box fitted to my ADV. I swapped my standard plate for one which had been machined flat and bolts to the adventure rack.

I have changed the rack/seats on my adv to the 1150 setup, and the altered plate doesnt fit as securely as an original.

Would you like to swap your standard plate for my machined one.

If you can make sense out of this, and you want to swap ... let me know.

Hi Den, nice idea but I tried "flattening" the standard plate and made a right arse of it so it's a bit wrecked now. I was thinking of removing the bars that the topbox attaches to and making aluminium posts to fit them on.
Hang on though, I'll put a post in the "wanted" section and see if anyone's got a plate lying about.
Watch this space.
